Having some trouble with my 1993 laser rs 2.0 non turbo

Today I was driving my car down the road and it just lost power and the check engine light came on. The engine didnt shut off at all. Then the check engine light went off and the power come back. Then did the same thing over and over again. It did it ounce sitting in the driveway.


What is going on? Do I have a senors going out? Please help this is my only means of getting around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew.... Um, your ECU is located behind and below your radio. And ECU stands for engine control unit. Obviously, it controls your engine. Check for leaking capacitors on the inside of the ecu, and smell check it for a fishy smell. You'll need to pull the ecu and take the case off of it to check that stuff.

Click the link in kronus's sig and get familiar with that first before you get yourself banned. ECU's can run anywhere from 100 to 250, but that all depends on if you want a brand new one or a used one. Check Ebay and junk yards first. But def check to see if its bad beforehand.

check your chiltons manual, it should be a big help. Also my friend took his ECU over to a shop and they checked it out for him. Cost him a little bit of money.
