I just got this boost gauge it a 30hg-0-20psi range gauge. Well it sitting at 2psi just out of the box. I created some vaccume and it goes up to 3psi, and then took some away and it goes to 0psi (by sucking and blowing on the hoses) Is this gauge messed up?
Thanks
Jason

RE:

Hey man I'm not too sure that the gauge is bad. I'd hook it up and see for sure. I do know that on the autometer tachs, when the engine is shut down the tach needle does not go all the way to 0. but actually stays around 2 grand until you start your engine again. My boost gauge is just above the zero box when not running.

so if my gauge reads at 2psi when outside pressure is really zero doesent that mean that the boost gauge will read 2psi through its whole range? I dont know if I cant trust it. Maybe I'll contact autometer.

My friends Auto. boost guage read -3 out of the box. He ran his car with it and could only reach 9psi. He exchanged the guage for a new one that read 0 out of the box and now reaches 11-12psi.

I knew it, Think I'm just going to go with an SPI 30-0-30 gauge. I dont want to risk another bad autometer.

I have both the Autometer -30 to 30 psi Boost Gauge and A/F Ratio Gauge and have had no problems with them. I have the "Phantom" white gauges and they look nice and function well. I like them. :)

I have also had nothing but good results with my Autometer boost guage. I know it is possible to adjust or correct the rest point of the guage by putting pressure on the needle from the backside until it rests at 0. Search in the archives.

HA!!!!!!! Just figured out how to adjust where the needle sits. There is a brass band that goes around the perimiter of the gauge on the inside. remove the light from the back of the gauge for access and you can either push out or pull in on the gauge to adjust where the needle sits. Just though I'd let you know. Thanks for all the help guys.
