That would explain how you was able to pull it off. Try doing that run when its 70 degrees and above outside and that airflow with pump. You'll get a whole lot more than 2 degrees of knock.
For safety and legetivity of your engine, its better to achieve 400hp with a higher octane fuel. Thats why I say it cannot be done with pump. And for those on the west (like me:( ) 91 octane would be worst to try it.

With E85 and 40+ lbs/min I still have 0 knock in 80 degree weather. A/F at around 11:1 for safety. (a bit rich)
E85 is a miracle for our cars. I see 38lb/min, 25* timing at peak torque and at most 4 counts of knock and thats with the 16g pushing hot air spiking to over 30psi.

I'm hearing people with Holsets HX40 doing that at a 25-30psi with support mods on Pump gas.
Iv seen people doing more then 30psi on the holsets on pump. Iv seen even better with meth injection. The hx40 is an awsome turbo. :D

Then he should look at the hx35. Spools like a 16g and out powers the 20g.

Who makes this turbo? This sounds promising.

Holset. They came factory on some dodge cummins trucks. You cna also buy them new, though. They run ~$900 new.

I found the parts talk thread, and the HX35 sounds sweet. And I'm gonna run a 2.3l stroker. I might just get the sleeper 16G and a HX35 and switch between the two and find out just how much better they are.:D

If your looking for a street turbo with alot of power save the money and do it right the first time and just buy the hx35. Full boost by 3500rpm and out powers a 50 trim. Get some 850's or 880's, dsmlink, ect, and have some fun.

I already have a turbo:rolleyes:
What about mafs , Maft and link or 2nd gen maf and Link?
The only problem is i have a Tial BOV with no bypass port:confused:
I ment the turbo comment for Draki but i should have been more clear.

What do you have now? If you have a gm 3" get the maft pro. With maft pro you can run speed density as well if you dont want the 3" maf. And with that dont need an eprom or laptop. If you have a stock mas spend the money and get link. 2 good options right there.

That would be like a t-too small compared to a 16g. The hx35 can flow enough air for 500+whp and spool insanely fast. I wouldnt go as far as saying it spools like a 16g but looking at the just the compressor map it should be close.

The turbo is originally designed to hit full spool (20+psi) by 300-500rpms. That is on a 17.1:1 or higher compression diesel though.

Who on here runs this turbo, and when do you actually spool? And will I need a tubular manifold for clearence? I saw a picture next to a smaller turbo, and it look HUGE next to it.

@ Sykotic - No, a simple 16G can make 400hp, with proper supporting mods.

If you talking about the hx series turbos you can get a bep housing that bolts right up too a dsm manifold and they dont show any signs of flow constriction. There are a lot of guys seeing over 20psi by 3200-3500rpms on a hx35 posting on dsmtuners. I really want to get one and see what it really can do.

You're right. It would be easier with a 20G. But thats still a relatively small turbo, and it's a MHI, so it looks like a stock turbo.

The 20g is a good turbo and for what you want. But i think the hx35 for the price is better. It spools super quick and will out flow the 20g or 50 trim but doesnt mean you have to go balls to the wall with it. If your only looking for 400hp then only run it at like 18psi. Later on when or if you want to upgrade just bump up the boost and change your fuel. Or if you have something like link then just set 2 maps for street then strip and get a duel mbc.
