So I've had my Laser for about 3 weeks. 4 days ago the front left wheel fell off on the freeway at about 90 mph. After fixing that I took it for a spin. It wasn't leakin oil and the pan seemed fine. It turns out the block was cracked and I blew the motor.

I was going about 110 when the motor went out. Car basically shut off and wouldn't turn back on and I coasted to a stop. I towed the car back to base, all of the oil drained out. I can see a decent size hole on the bottem of the block.

Now for the questions:

Is the entire engine done for?

The head was just rebuilt so I would rather just purchase a block, is this even a possibility?
 
110miles on hour on public streets? You got what you deserved. As for the evo motor, seriously man search. No it's not going to go in.

Don't post stupid crap on here knoob. I did help you, the evo motor wont go in unless it's an earlier evo motor, 4g63 with timing belt on the driver side. Stop endangering other people just because you think your crap is fast and you want to go 110on public roads.

Well, I'm gonna jump on the non-noob side to balance things out...

Seriously, doing 110 on the streets is dumb, I don't care who you are or where you're doing it, especially in a 15 year old car that is in disrepair. It's a recipe for killing at the very least yourself, if not people in surrounding cars and buildings.

Get back on topic or you're gonna get yourself banned.
 
Find a bottom end you'll be fine...

Wow you are just as dumb as him.. Also your advice is crap.. If a motor blew put a window in the block it's doubtful the head is 100% fine.

LOL-thanks a lot man.

BTW I wasn't posting my speed to brag about how fast I go. I merely wanted to put into perspective what the engine went through.

I can't wait to tear into this baby, just as soon as project AE86 silver 20V is complete :)

Obi-one ^^ Burnett03 never said the block was still good of course its fucked, Going 110 as the oil drains will make it lock up tighter then your mother. :chair:

Back to the OP. Just wondering but why would you be going 110mph? I would pull the motor apart and go from there.

We will see, I'll pull the head and take a look.

As for the drifting Ob-one, not so much for me. My buddy I'm with is the drifter. I just love working on cars so I'll be devoting all of my time to his swap :)

That's a great question. It really didn't slide out of control as you might think. I have an upgraded suspension + front and rear sway bars.


As for initial damage it was minimal. In fact, the only visible damage was done to the brake rotor where it made contact to the ground. When the rim came flying off it sheered 3 of the studs off also.
 
Faster than me? I'm done with you and this thread but i'll bench race with you for a minute.. Wow, you've ran an 11.3@125mph at 5,800ft elevation on a 14b? Damn now that impressive especially on a stock ecu and that all famous COP that tends to misfire at anything past 23psi boost. I'm also very impressed with the stock cams and stock intake. You say your best pass is 12.3 bud yet you are faster than me? You need to drop a second off you time then we will talk. I also like the "I'll go 11.50 first pass at the NEw years day race" You sound like vin diesel from f&f talking about race wars. I love guys like you on the internet that talk shit about what they WILL run or WILL do.
