Ok I searched for a while like always and I found ONE post but now I cant seem to find it.

Has anybody used EVO 9 rods/pistons on a 2g 7 bolt? Are there any modifications needed? Which bearings?

I hope somebody can answer this because I didnt find much out there. Oh and BTW, I want to stay away from aftermarket rods/pistons(price)

Thanks ppl!

Ive been doing quite a bit of searching on Evo forums and Ive read ppl running 500 whp hp with their stock internals BUT saying thats pushing them to the max. For my purposes, Im only doing to do ~350 so they are a perfect option for me. And they only cost me $100 with pistons and with about 30K on them :) Ill take it!

Oh and yeah they are also forged but with a slightly diff process that still doesnt make them as strong as aftermarket rods but are stronger than our 7 bolt rods.

From what GotARed told me the rods, pistons, rings, and bearings are a direct swap and for ppl that are interested these internals can be found very cheap and slightly used on evo forums. I guess these just arent good enough for the Evo guys.

Ok so that makes me even more happy. :D I know the STM evo ran 10 sec in the quarter on stock evo VIII internals, but I also HEARD it blew an engine, on ONE bad misshift. :tat:4g63

Ok so just to TRIPLE check I talked to Chris from MAPerformance and he confirmed that this is possible. He checked the part numbers and for bearings and pistons and they are exactly the same as the 97+ 2gs. I know someone someday will find this thread useful. ;)
