The clutch package for a FWD when ordered from MAPerformance came with a fidanza flywheel.

As for having a ring gear modified I'm not sure what everyone is doing? Maybe using the AWD setup and putting on a FWD ring gear? I'd like to know as well. No one has went indebth on doing this.

I spoke with MAPerformance today and they do not have any answers. I also spoke with PTT and they had no suggestions for the flywheel either.
That is what I would like to know what is the modification to the flywheel, is it an awd flywheel with a FWD ring gear? I thought the AWD flywheel was smaller:dunno:

Talk to Mike Welch at RRE. He was running a QM twin disc in his turbo mirage for a while so I'm sure he would have some input. Car was in sport compact car a couple years ago. It had a 1G tranny and 6bolt in it so I assume its just like your GST.

Dsmu4ia made a modified ring gear. That is the only modification needed. He posted pictures of it 6 weeks ago in this very thread: http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2073764&postcount=14

The answer has been before your very eyes for weeks, months if you search back to this time last year. You simply turn down an awd ring gear till it fits inside a FWD ring gear and TIG weld them together. When pressed onto the flywheel the whole assembly should be balanced unless you hate your main bearings.

You can also modify a NT flywheel to bolt a twin disc to.

I thought the whole idea behind these forums was to help each other not state "There it is stupid how come you couldn't figure that out!"
The question was direct and simple. A simple answer is much easier than a smart ass answer. Right infront of your eyes!!! How can I tell what type of flywheel that is by a partial picture of it. I am tired of the attitude and I don't expect to be "spoon fed" but I would expect a little help when I ask for it, as I would extend the same courtesy on an issue I had alot of knowledge on.

Dan you must have just posted this the same time I did. Thanks for then info on the ring gears. I take it it's the flywheel that comes with the awd kit?

The point of forums is to answer questions correctly the first time. It is the case many times that people ask questions many times instead of searching first. It is also the case that many people are quick to provide an answer that is not correct. I have spent the time, of which I don't have much, to provide answers. Next time maybe I'll not provide answers and sit on them myself.

When the question is already answered, and I am PM'd and have to provide you with an answer that is the classic definition of spoon feeding. You PM'd me asking what kind of flywheel was used. In post #19 I had already noted that it was a quartermaster flywheel. Shame on you once. You then PM'd and asked who modified the ring gear. I decided to look at the thread again and saw that, sure enough it was answered in post #4.Shame on you twice.

I'll tell you what, PM the mods. If they have a problem with this attitude have them delete my account.

See, now this is a useful post. Yes, it is an AWD flywheel. The PTT kit that I got uses a Quartermaster flywheel with the modified ring gear that tony made.

First off Dan, Thank you for your detailed answer. That was all I was looking for.

Secondly here is post #4 I think you meant post#14. lol
As usual, you come up with a good solution to yet another strange DSM problem! Good job Chris! Now, if I ever decide on a fwd tranny, I'll know who to ask about it!
Third, I am very sorry that I had to ask for reassurance or someone to spell it out for me. After doing some research and speaking with the manufacturer directly, they could not recommend a FW to use. I like to be sure when spending $1,000, that everything is going to work/fit correctly.

And lastly, thanks to all who selflessly help out on the forums
