Hi all,
I have a gsx with a compustar alarm system. To start off the siren no longer works, I will explain why. Alarm brain has brown wire for siren and green-white for parking lights. The brown wire is getting no power, I checked via amp meter. So using the siren wire (brown), I tapped into the green-white because when the car is in panic mode the lights flash that will cause the siren to chirp. All of this came together perfectly accept for a small problem. Now when I turn my lights on with the switch on steering wheel, the siren comes on and stays on until I turn the lights off. I drove around for a bit chirping the siren at hot girls but other wise annoying and I can't drive at night. If any one has any idea how I could power the siren off the green-white lights cable without the siren going off when I am using the lights, that would be great.

Thanks
Darvesh

Are you absolutely positive that the siren output on the brain is fried? Is the car in Valet mode? If you can get your hands on another good working siren, try it out to verify that your brain's siren output (brown wire) is bad. If you know your way around electronics, you can open up the brain and look for any bad solder joints or cold solder joints on the board.

Now, if the siren output really is bad,

Put a diode inline with the green/white wire coming out of the Compustar brain on pin 2 of the main harness on the CN1 plug, with the gray band on the diode facing the parking light wire on the car. So, pretty much, you will cut that green/white wire coming out of the brain, and put a diode in between the wire you just cut. Solder the diode back in if you know how to solder.

Now, get a SPDT relay and wire pin 87 to a fused 12v constant source, pin 85 to a nice solid ground, pin 86 will be a jumper wire to the green/white wire coming out from the Compustar brain (make sure you tap into the green/white wire BETWEEN the brain and the diode that you should have already put in) and pin 30 from the SPDT relay will go to your red wire on the siren. Make sure the black wire from the siren is properly grounded.

Now, when you arm/disarm your Compustar alarm, your siren should beep as well, and when your alarm goes off and your parking lights are flashing, the siren should be going off as well.

Is your factory horn hooked up to the alarm as well? The horn output wire from the Compustar is a white wire that isn't in the same CN1 harness plug as the green/white parking light output wire. The white horn output wire goes to the green/black wire on your steering column harness. It should meter (-) when you push the horn buttom only.

^ He's 100% correct. I bet the alarm is in valet.. I just installed my viper 791xv and thought the brain was dead because the alarm wasn't chirping. Turns out it was in valet.

Umm... I have installed the Compustar alarm before and I won't do it again. I had a problem where I accidently put it into valet mode and the car would not let me know what was wrong with it. This system is unlike the Viper 791xv (which I have installed multiple times).

Long story short..check to see if it got put into some other mode by accident. Also, you should definitely download the Installation Manual and User's Guide of your model of the Compustar alarm. Read more about the installation procedure, and remember, it is NOT a Viper system.

You might be able to get the manuals from Compustar's website or from www.the12volt.com

Good luck with it.

First, make sure that your siren is not the defective component. Ok, I know on the Viper's they usually have a "Horn" wire so that you can hook-up your car;s horn. Check and see, the compustar might have one too. 2nd, I dont recommend connecting the siren wire to the parking lights because If you use the remote start the parking lights are set to flash and you wouldn't want the siren burbling every split second. But if you insist, you have to connect the siren wire to the parking light wire direct at the alarm and install a Diode. http://www.the12volt.com/diodes/diodes.asp
The diode must be installed on the parking light wire coming from the alarm unit where it connects to the car's parking light wire. Hope that makes sense. So, it would be (parking light -car side) ---(diode-check link to determine striped side) ---(parking light wire from alarm)---(siren wire -to siren)---(parking light wire from alarm)---(ALARM unit)

Hi,
The compustar is not in valet mode or anything, already read the manuals and installation manual as well. The output for the siren itself from the brain is fried, and I don't have the expertise to open the damn thing and play with circuits. I hooked up a voltmeter to the horn output/siren output wire and its not receiving any power from the brain. The sirens are not faulty as I have two of them and they both do not work but operate when I hook up a 12 V power source direct to siren. I've never played with viper systems only compustars.

As my previous post mentioned the sirens are not defective. I will look into having the Horn hooked up as the siren, what I have noticed is when the alarm was functioning properly,if my alarm is armed and I open the door using the key, the factory horn and sirens would go off, but If I hit the car when the alarm is armed, only the sirens go off. I understand that hooking up the siren to parking lights would cause the siren to go off when I remote start, As of now that's what I have done, the siren is wired into the parking lights. It's starting to get warm out here, so I don't use remote start anyway. For now its enough to keep the alarm system working till I replace all of it with a new system and do a stealth install like this one.

My car came with this compustar installed and they did a shit job, half the crap doesn't work or isn't hooked up, and its located in the most obvious place under the steering. A month or so I am going to rip this pos out and replace it with a brand new compustar or viper system haven't decided. I don't think compustar is bad or anything and that mine stopped functioning due to the shitty job of installing it.

Thanks to all for your help/advice.

Where did you purchase the compustar alarm system? I have had a few issues with mine (clicking when breaking and long crank when starting), but I took it back to the place I had it installed and they fixed the issues. I believe all compustar alarm systems come with a life time warantee, so you might want to have it looked at by a compustar dealer.
