I have a 91 talon tsi fwd and the front engine mount is broken. Can I get the mount off and put a new fairly easy? Or do I have to lift the whole engine out of the car to get at it? It looks like I could support and lift the engine up a little to get access to the rear bolt holding the bracket to the frame but I'm not sure.

And is this the right mount? It seems a little flimsy, I can move the center part with little effort, how is it supposed to support the engine?

Its not a mount that really supports the engine. That is the job of the 2 mounts on the side, 1 on the block and 1 on top of the transmission.

The front and rear 'mounts' are actually roll stops. They keep the motor from rocking forwards and backwards when shifting and accelerating.

The front is pretty easy to change, just need to support the motor to remove and install the bolt through the mount.

I know this is an old tread but anyone know what size bolt goes threw the front mount? Is it a 10 x 1.25 mm?
