I was wondering because I have an extra one and wasn't sure if it's worth keeping as a spare. Actually I bought it when I THOUGHT mine was bad a long time ago but it was the ecu. I've Had 5 ecu's go bad on 2 dsm's over 12 yrs time but never a bad relay so :dunno:

*edit*

Sorry thread title should read 'Do they GO bad often' :D

Re: Do MPI Relays good bad very often?

I have had one go bad over the 10 years ive owned/worked on DSM's. Its not very common. But it only takes up a 2X3 inch space on your shelf. Might as well hang onto it. If any thing it could help some day with trouble shooting a no start issue.

Yeah I have 2 spares and selling one right now after the guy pays me so I'll probably keep 1 as a spare just in case, thanks.

I have boxes of random parts/clips/bolts and what not I got when I got my car which included a parts car that was already stripped (I got almost everything but the body lol) and I try to snag whatever I think might be usefull at the junk yard too just in case.

Fixed your thread title.

I've never really heard of them going bad too often. Doesn't seem like a highly like part to go bad but they do, always good to keep a spare around. I would image it's very easy to overlook the MPI relay in starting issues.

You're right I'll keep 1 as a spare just in case.

When I converted my RS to turbo, I wasn't able to use the non-turbo relay, and can't imagine why there would be a difference, but I swapped it with a GST one and didn't have an issue anymore. Might have been a bad relay, but they usually click when they're bad.
