I am swapping out my 7 bolt for a 6 bolt here real soon and I have heard the 2g head is an upgrade to the 1g. but i was wondering if there were any real big steps I had to do to get this right. I dont want any compression issues cause its just annoying.

It's an upgrade depending on what way you look at it (and this topic has been debated A LOT). The 1g head will flow more, while the 2g head flows better. It's all in how you look at it, what you're looking for in your car, and who you believe. It's 1g and 2g, not 6 bolt and 7 bolt by the way.

You'll at least have to drill out the head stud holes to accept the larger 12mm head studs.

ya I know i posted this rather late in the night but so far what i have been told it the 2g head is better when you go to port it because you have alot more to work with where as the 1g head is thinner where it would be ported. also i am looking into eagle rods and wiseco pistons. any thoughts on that would be appriciated.

Just because you have the material there that can be removed, doesnt mean its a good idea to do so.

There are some very fast dsms out there that run each of them. I beleive it comes down to making the entire system work together.

Stop trying to get your post count up. If your going to post in a thread then post useful information. :tat:

DSM_FR3AK: If your running a 6 bolt bottom end i would use the 6 bolt head to go with it. What kind of car are you going to be building and what kind of HP rang are you looking for?

Only reason I see to do this would be to use the Evo III intake manifold. Since I am told that it works best with the 2g head vs the 1g :(. Take that with a pinch of salt as I am not 100% on it though.

Can someone confirm or deny?
