This weekend I installed my SAFC-2. Thought I'd show off a few pics. I used an aluminum cut-out center vent delete and overlaid it in *real* carbon fiber. I epoxied metal brackets in place in the back to hold the SAFC-2 in place. I think it came out real nice and matches my guage cluster which is also carbon fiber (can't see in the picture). I wanted a clean look.

As far as the wiring goes, I did something a little different. Instead of just hardwiring the harness end right into the ECU, I went scavengering at the junk yard and found the green clip below. Here's the cool part .... all of the colors match the SAFC-2 harness except for grey. Total luck. It's a Subaru HVAC connector. If you pull out the center vent in a Subby, it should sit right on top above the HVAC controllers. Wire cut it out and bring it home. I wired the green end of the harness to the ECU, and the white end to the SAFC-2 cable. The whole thing is plug-n-play now and could be totally removed in less than 5 if need be. The best part - it's looks clean and it's hard to tell something aftermarket has been done.

Beautiful job TechBoy, I'm eventually going to have to do this, so if you want to change up the writeup feel free.

Does the safc II harness not detach from itselfs? I know the neo detaches from itself about half way down its harness. A pretty clean install you did there. Are there any left over wires on that subie harness or are they all used?

Wow ... after 5 years I can't believe this old thread of mine popped up today. I never did do a write up on the install b/c most guys seem to have moved away from the SAFC to the DSMLink.

Anyway, no, if I remember correctly the SAFC II harness does not detach from itself. It's wired into the back of the unit and then you're supposed to splice it into your car. I just added a disconnect. If you look at my pictures above, it looks like there were 2 extra wires on the Subby harness that I zip tied off.

EDIT: StockSpyder - neither one of those links is for installing a SAFC ... they're for cams installing/tuning. Not sure if this was a mistake or not. Just a heads up.
