I was pretty excited about running this turbo. And before I purchased it, I heard nothing but good things about it. Now that I have it I hear that the quality of PTE turbos is questionable and they suck at rebuilds. I am now kinda sketchy about running this turbo. And after seeing what happened to Ben AKA LazyLaser, I am scared now. What are your opinions? should I run it? sell it? and if I sell it, What should I get instead? My goal is to run 12's or 11's if possible and have about 400awhp.

My 50 trim has just been rebuilt by PTE.

What happened to lazylaser? Some people love PTE and some people don't, it's up to you to judge for yourself. Either way I think it's a nice turbo and you should try it. Or you can buy mine, I wanted to go bigger. Either way I had mine rebuilt by PTE and not a problem at all, hell if I wasn't dumb and didn't feed the oil off the head in the first place I would have never had to rebuild it. (GT3561)

Hey Frank, I still have the paperwork from the rebuild. You should have a 1 year warranty on that turbo from the rebuild date. I'll try and mail it to you this week.

Thanks Eric, If you could do that I would appreciate it.

For the record, I pushed too much oil pressure to the turbo and that's what caused me to have it rebuilt. It should be good to go as long as you keep it properly fed.

How were you feeding it?
I've been told to feed it from the filter housing without a restrictor.
-4 no restrictor and 100+ psi oil pressure :D

I figured it would be OK.:dunno:

I have a PTE SC6162e fed with -3an from OFH with no restrictor, no balance shafts, and ported oil pressure relief. I have put around 1-2k miles on it and about 12-14 1/8 mile passes with no problems.

You should sell it to me....fo' free! Lol, Idk, if I ever get my car running, I'm gonna try to end up running this turbo, I keep hearing it's one of the best street turbos out there, and I can't complain with all the positive things I've heard about it.

I believe it to be 46 lb/min.

Lazy check your oil pressure at idle and at 5k rpm with the car under load.

Your gauge reads off the OFH so you should have a solid idea of how much pressure you are working with.

I really don't want to pull the OFH to port it. But you may need to. I just don't remember what your oil pressure looked like.
