Hey guys, I hope you can help me out with the current situation I'm in. Well I do not have a wideband a/f ratio gauge but from the odor emitting from my exhaust and my gauge completely on rich. Everything, until recently, was running perfect, my check engine line would come on after it was reset by the battery after 100 miles normally but the a/f ratio remained good(basing off flucuation between rich/stoich/lean). Now it seems to stuck on rich with no fluctuation blowing the code P0170 which has to deal with fuel trim. My bottom line question is, can I tune my car without having to have DSMlink or SAFC. Let me know guys. Thanks.

You really do need some sort of tuning device, but with the mods you've got it doesn't seem like you'd really need one anyway. Maybe because of your exhuast, but I doubt it.

Anyway, I'd check for a boost leak, thats the easiest place to start. If that doesn't help, then I'd move to plugs/wires, and from there you could try an o2 sensor or fuel pressure regulator.

What is your COMPLETE list of mods? We'll talk more after you provide this information.

OP, please limit your signature to 4 lines of text. Please change this by the next time you read this thread. Thanks! :)

Getting a wideband won't fix your issue. But if you had a wideband, fpr and a S-AFC you could play with the fuel so you can get good AF's.

My DSM was running extremly rich prior to my wideband / afc / afpr. I tuned the car my self, received good af's. Then I went and fixed my boost leaks. AF's went bad again (Fixed my issue!!).

You should check your plugs, they will tell you if you're running that rich as well. I'd start with doing some common things. Checking for boost leaks, O2 sensors, MAF. It's best to resolve the issue before tuning. You don't want to just hide it.

This is good advice. Do a boost leak first, you may be losing air that has already been accounted for by the MAF thus ending up with too much fuel and not enough air. If that doesn't help follow the rest of the advice on the post above.

Hey thanks for the help guys, I'm going to do a boost leak test whenever I can. See, another thing I've noticed is that on the intake line one of the vacuum lines were cut off, but the car ran less rich with that line still missing. Is a boost leak easy to feel, I'm assuming there are more drastic occurrences. What I have noticed also is that recently on my MBG the boost will rise up to my max 14PSI normally but if I boost in little increments it jumps a little in a rough and jagged movement. Thanks again for the help.
