Well I was about ready to buy my go fast parts but I came across an Idea that would not only raise the value of my car, but make it mega fast and unique. I need though, the dimensions of the engine bay. What size engine could fit into our engine bays? If I totally scrapped everything, and only had the complete engine bay by itself, meaning no trans, no CC, no AC, no radiator, no fuse box, no emissions crap, no NOTHING, just the space taken by the wheel wells, what are the dimensions of that empty space. I know there has to be a few of you with empty engine bays, so if you don't mind, could you make some measurements for me?
Thank you in advanced.
And If I get the dimensions and decide to start this project, I will reveal what I am doing. For now, hush hush.
:)

I actually said "uh-oh" out loud when I read that.

Do you really think this will raise the value to have a (most likely) hacked-in engine?
Also, maybe you don't frequent these forums very often... but there are PLENTY of mega fast cars on here with a "factory" engine.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

On a positive note..
You should still be able to see where the firewall/fenders are to get a measurement, even if it's not empty.

Just build the 4g63 with what money you would throw at this swap. You could have a stout, fast street/strip/track/daily and probably have cash left over assuming that the swap would not be a cheap endeavor.

Or if you really want a V8, buy a car that comes with one or buy a Honda and put a V8 in that. Or put an LS1 in an RX-7.

This is all my opinion, in the end it's your car and you can do whatever you want with it unless the DSM gods get angry and possess your car to drive itself away in the middle of the night. :dunno: Just a thought. :)

Well so you guys stop bashing on me, I'll tell you what I'm doing.
I might have a hook up with a crash tested Taurus SHO (New one) engine is fine, but the body was used for a crash test. So I was thinking of maybe buying the car for dirt cheap, and using the 365hp twin turbo engine. I know the 4g63's are better, but this car is pretty fast for being stock. I was guessing putting this engine into a dsm would raise it's value, but then again, what was I thinking? ehh, f*ck it, I'll just buy my go-fast parts from Maperf and go the old school way.

It would be interesting but the amount of wiring and fab work that would be required is indescribable. One of those things where if you have money great go for it, but if you aren't willing to spend thousands of dollars on stand alone ems systems, trans adapter plates, custom gear ratios, ect... dont bother.

^Wise words from a wise man.

I know people, who could do the wiring for dirt cheap aswell. and I know a guy that can make my engine mounts for a case of beer, haha. So I'm honestly not going to spend asmuch as it would take normally because of my connections. But in the end, I realize that it it still is going to be expensive ($7500 for the engine) plus all the other stuff I need for it. Unique? Yes, Practical? No. Shit son, for $7500 I could have 600-700 hp, haha. And even so, I'd be ripping the soul of DSM right out of it if I were to swap it.
I guess I'm going back to my old route

I was just making an estimate. I didn't think you guys would be anal about that too!
Plus, I bet I can with the right connections it's possible. Sure it might not be all brand new parts. But 600-700hp with $7500 is quite obtainable. Don't ask me to do it though because that is way beyond my goals. I stated my goals in a previous thread, 400hp MAX. I rarely race, and never race on the street. I just want a car that gets up and goes on a DD basis, and when I do race, I can feel proud.

There are cars out there that are alot easier the swap a V8 in.. the Miata for one. Its almost a direct bolt in, I watched a show on it. Super easy (even a caveman could do it! Sorry, couldn't resist)

I've been around the block enough times to know most people that have these unrealistic big dreams rarely follow through. Just don't bother. It'll never be right, and then there will just be another hacked up trashed 1g out there.

Kinda missed the fact that I said it wasn't a V8, I wasn't really going to do it, I was just thinking about it, and it wasn't a 1g.
Not to sound like a dick, but we covered it a few posts ago
