This is why I would get a STI between the two. The dealer support is better. Mitsu dealers have a history of "Oh, thats an aftermarket breather? Sorry, out of warranty." It comes with more comfort options, come on mitsu, no cruise. The ride is better for long distance. I haven't rode long distance in either one, but haven't heard any complaints of the subie. I have heard a lot with the Evo though, even a guy that drove a X down to Florida said the rotors warped on the way down. I would rate it like this: All out performance, Evo all the way. Compfort and nice to hop in and go, Subie.

My stables would be open to the more valuable between the Evolution and STI once the new steed was calm and feeling quite secured I wouldslowly guide towards a Carmax with false statements of "price checking for a compatriot" then at the last moment I would ask the lords of Carmax how much for this steed and take gold and run back to my stable and converse with my TSI on what we could now afford for her.

After over four years of owning an Evo and buying it brand new, if I had it to do all over again I would do it again. Can't wait until I get an X (or XI).

If you chose a STI you should be shot and your dsm should be taken away!!!! The evo always kicks the crap out of the STI's. The power is close but then you get to the handling, the evo drives circles literally around the STI!!!! Not to mention that the STI is freakin' ugly!! If you chose the STI please leave the forum and don't come back!! ha ha

Agreed. The ONLY thing STI's are good for is the boxer engine sound. Other than that, EVO FTFW!

STI's are fine in my mind as long as its a daily driver and not the 2.5 motor since piston failures are expected around 40k miles. ( I personally know 2 people that took it up the rear on that one).

I would definitely take an evo 8, but a mivec head is king, so I would have to go with a 9. ( didnt the late 8's come with a mivec head?)

My choice is mostly due to the royal pain in the ass and mass confusion that came along with helping pull and tear down the ej motor. Good luck with a leakdown test. And that sound everyone loves so much, to the best of my knowledge, its the unequal length header design.
