Yeah, as far as I know, he's still making them. I know Jake's been very busy trying to make a buck just like the rest of us, and he hasn't been online as much lately. I'm sure he'll reply eventually.

Bringing this back from the dead...

Any word on what's going on with JHRacing? Website seems to be down, I've tried calling and emailing with no reply.

I haven't heard from Jake in almost a year...

I'm pretty sure I still have his cell #, so I'll give him a call later today. I'll let you know what he says.

Cracked around the base of the collector. I called him a couple times, then left a message. Gave it 3 days and heard nothing back from him. I then tried calling him again, and the phone went straight to voicemail. So I sent an email asking what the procedure was to have this manifold handled under warranty.

I have yet to this day, to have established successful communication with him.

The car has since been sold, and I was left with footing the bill to have it repaired.

This is twice now that I have dealt with disappearing vendors and useless warranties in the DSM community. You don't always get what you pay for.

Sorry about the quality I had to snap them with my cellphone at the time. The manifold was on the car for probably no more than 2-3 months. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, but I would've appreciated some customer service for warranty purposes

Yeah, lifetime warranty is as good as the company issuing it. The welds on the head flange don't look too healthy either. Hope he sends you a new one if you get ahold of him, there is no fixing that. I wonder what type of filler he used to get a toe crack on the overly thick walled tubing everybody is making turbo manifolds out of these days.

Wow, that's one hell of a crack.... When I was friends with Jake in the past, I watched him build these manifolds. I cannot remember what specific welding rod he was using, but I thought it was a 308 rod.

He also back-purged with Argon on all the tube welds. I know he was getting penetration pretty well. He did have a decently sized TIG to do so, and took his time making them.

Was your hood vented or the car out in the rain w/ a vented hood with this manifold on?

How heavy was the turbo? Which turbo was it?

I just checked, and I no longer have Jake's cell number, and his website is down. I am guessing that he stopped paying for the web service. I know he is still around, but he definitely isn't in the DSM crowd anymore -- he is back to doing mud trucks.

As well, I haven't spoken to Jake in well over 1.5 years now.

I am assuming no one ever got a hold of him...turbo was an HTA3586, so not heavy at all, and I can't say it ever got too hot either...to say the least I think he should at least cover the bill I had to pay to get it repaired being he was non-existent when warranty time rolled around, as well as ZERO communication. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this BS in the DSM community either.

Who ever has a tubi manifold, no matter whose it is, you should support it with a bracket. Dont expect the manifold not to crack. Seriously.
At some point that may hold true, but to have a manifold crack in under 3 months bracket or not is unacceptable.

I think it's odd that the tubing cracked.
I think it's odd it cracked period.

I wouldn't say its a bad manifold by any means, I think it's a quality product despite the situation, the customer service on the other hand is where my main issue is. I simple "f*** you and your manifold" or a "you're on your own" would've at least been nice in any form of communication.:dunno:

The welds are stronger than the tubing, thats what woul crack. Its also not an odd thing for it to crack in three months. Bottom line is, the metal gets soft under heat, the turbo pulls down and bam, when it starts to cool off, it cracks when it goes back to shape. Its very common on many cars without turbo support brackets.

I can certainly understand it cracking around the weld as I'm well aware the weld is stronger than the metal...but cracking across the pipe suggests another issue. Thin-wall piping? Maybe it's cut thin from matching angles and flange sizes? something putting a twisting force on the flange?
