My slave cylinder is leaking. A new one is $120CAD. How much would a rebuild kit be, or should I just buy a new one? Is it easy to rebuild it if I choose to go that route?

Thanks in advance!

$15 at any Mitsu dealer or parts store. The rebuild involves swapping the piston and (optional) the rubber boot. Easy job, takes ten minutes or less + bleeding the clutch.

Ask for "clutch slave cylinder rebuild kit", the kit consists of the piston with the seal installed and new rubber boot. The kit Mitsu PNC number is 20410 (they'll know). When you do it, unbolt the slave cylinder from the tranny housing (2 12mm bolts) with the hard line attached, then unbolt the line bracket (the hard line to the rubber hose connection) from the tranny. Take the rubber boot with the pushrod off the cylinder, remove the old piston, inspect the inside of the cylinder and if everything looks OK (no scoring or dirt), dip the new piston in clean brake fluid and push it inside the cylinder. Then just replace the boot, install it with the pushrod on the cylinder and put everything back together. Bleed the clutch and you're done. :D

There is no Mitsu dealer in town. Would the Dodge dealer have this kit? Thanks!

I bought a new complete cylinder from NAPA, about $69 American earlier this year. If you can get an assembly new from a discounter, I recommend it. My old cylinder had quite a bit of bore wear at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions in addition to the plating wear on the piston itself. This was at 45,000 miles! The NAPA unit was identical to original equipment, same brand and everything.

I don't really know, call them... (I don't shop at Dodge :D ) Any parts store carries the kits (or can order one for you...). :D

I got a new slave cylinder today for around $80CAD, which is about $55US. I think it was a better deal than rebuilding since the old one was in bad shape.
