Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

It was on the car wasn't it!

LOL j/k
LoL I'll never ever tell. And, now that it's instlled and the bumper on, I have idle issues. I had the same idle issue before the install, but it's something else to tackle.

New thread for the install coming. And BTW, I didn't answer the phone because I'm at work ;)

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

When I unbolted the bumper, I set it on the ground with the front of the bumper facing towards me. Thing is, the bumper support was still bolted to the bumper. I didn't notice it until I went back and looked at the bumper in the corner of the garage. I couldn't see it. I feel effing retarded. I walked over to the bumper, saw it, and wanted to take a 12 gauge to my face.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

Thats funny, when i put on mine, which i also took off the stock PS cooler and got a 20 goodie from Oreillys, i put it togeather twice because i kept forgetting to put stuff on. And the foam bumper filler thing is still chilling in the garage. LOL. Looks nice though.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

I had to cut the hell out of the inside of my bumper. Both small "mouths" on the left and right side of the bumper had to be cut to accomodate the IC piping.

I can't seem to align the passenger side fog log in the bumper. The bumper lines up exactly with the car on both sides and the front. The bad alignment started after I removed the fog light from the car to replace a bulb. There's a spring on a screw on the top left of the fog light which seems to function as some alignment purpose. I can't figure it out. I only have the FSM for the 97 Talon Electrical and Body so it doesn't help me.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

Ya I had to take my fog lights off because they would not fit back in. But mine are not stock they are larger. But I can go back to those with the side mount. Yipee.

You still got the stock fans too?

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

Yea, I have the stock fans. I had to hack my passenger side fan all to absolute fucking hell. The T-25/FP T-28 pipe setup does not work with the passenger side fan at all. I had to cut the shroud to shit, and also cut the fan blades to shit. It really doesn't even serve a purpose now. However, the driver's side fan is in excellent condition. I'm going to purchase slim fans to fix this issue.

EDIT: By the way, I did completely remove my power steering cooling line and just looped it at the reservoir.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

Ya, mine was the same, i ended up buying to slim fans and it gave me alot of room. A good upgrade as well. Is the t25/28 pipe like a complete "u" to go back towards the driver fender? Or like underneath.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

It is a U and does something like this:

<.......................,
......................../

And yea, the piping design is great for what it is. But the fact that it loops around like it does is very inefficient. I'll upgade the turbo eventually to something with more pep. Either I have a boost leak, or I'm going to have to put my MBC back on my car. Boost is falling off at higher RPM after installing the intercooler. The IC eliminated all of my previous knock entirely, but I believe it's choking my turbo. I'll probably have to turn the boost up with the MBC to compensate for the FMIC and larger piping.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

This makes me glad I went with a VRSF kit. Not trying to kick you when your down, but it seems like you went through alot of headaches with this kit, where as my VRSF kit was bolt in and go.

But you should definitely post pictures of your install.

Hos problem is his bumper support. If you look at his car on the 1st page, he doesnt have the brackets that the support hooks to. For some reason, it was not bolted onto his car. I dont know exactly what he has on his bumper but I dont think its the full setup.

I would love to see some pictures of the bumper setup and more from during different points in the install.

Re: ETS FMIC Install Trouble

I took a whole bunch of pictures before, during, and after. I'll post them up when I get home. I don't have access to Photobucket here at work. The intercooler looks awesome, but I have a couple problems.

My passenger side fog light doesn't line up with the fog light hole in the bumper. The fog light itself doesn't work. It may just be a plug, but I remember plugging it in...hopefully it's not a bulb, because they're a PITA to change. The side marker on the passenger side doesn't work, either. That may be a bulb, because I remember plugging it in, too.

I'm having extreme lean idle conditions as well. This condition is not after the FMIC install and was evident before. I'm going to check for exhaust leaks in the meantime, but I think my IAC may be going out. My idle fluctuates +/- 1-200 RPM at idle, and most of the time at start up. Hell, maybe I should create another thread for this crap.

I have the ssac kit and I had to move mine. All depends on how thick the core is.
