Can someone point me to a thread on this? Also what dimmensions for the Intercooler will fit in the Lasers stock front cover?

I tried searching and couldn't find anything specific. Thanks!

I used the SBR Street core and I had to do some cutting on the bumper brace to get it to fit. Check out SBR for the exact dimensions on that core. It worked out real well for me.
You will also have to cut the holes to put your IC piping if you go the "short route" piping method.

Hope this helps.

I'll have to check out those pics at home. However, where do you cut for the "short route"? What size pipe should I go for, 2"?

Check out the ETS street FMIC kit. It bolts right to the metal bumper support. (It's half the height of JP's core) It should be enough IC for your goals. On my 90 GSX the bumper cover fit perfect over the intercooler. no trimming.

As for plumbing options, just lurk through the "engine bay pics" thread.

2.5" would be best as thats what most DSM kits are piped for.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna check those out and what they cost. Can someone explain "the short route"? Is it easier to pipe the other way or just go the short route?

It's actually a cool build. He is using an evo 8 turbo on a forged bottom end d series. I'll link to his build when I'm not on my phone.

Short route means the pipes go around the sides of the radiator vs "long route" which the pipes ussually go through an enlarged hole where the SMIC used to be.

I prefer short route because it looks cleaner and I think it gives a little better spool time but there are some ppl who think the generally smoother bends of long route are better... have to make your own opinion on that tho.

Shane, ME WANT!!! NOW LOL!

I came across this and was wondering what FMIC this is. I like how it fit inside the Plymouth stock bumper. Ok after seeing some I now understand the Short to Long route. I also noticed people are removing the reinforcement bars for the tall coolers. And how are they getting the bumpers off with lights still on? Lh runs around the radiator from the turbo J pipe... Then into cooler, back around radiator and up to throtle body. :dunno: Think I got it. lol

I also just remembered my roomie Quick6 got me a FMIC from a Mini Cooper S. I will try and take some pics of it tonight. I think that may work on the car, keep me from having to buy one lol.

So I bought a 1g FMIC kit, bassically it's a Godspeed under the name CXRacing.
Now how the hell does it stay in there lol:p! It has no instructions:rolleyes:!

So it has 2 mounts onto the top and bottom. If anyone is familular with this one, more than likely I will have to remove the rebar right? It's damn sexy! Flat black textured pipes, and red couplers. And what was the best way to cut the rad support for the short route?

Start browsing through and get a good idea how you want to do yours. Helped me a lot.

Here is basically the short route... or at least about the shortest you can go with this kind of intercooler.

90* couplers are also helped a lot... though they are deffinitaly not cheap. They go for about $30 each at extremepsi. Well worth it though, as they saved me a lot of hastle.
Oh, and getting some of the peices welded will help it look a little more decent. I never really liked the look of a bunch of couplers... which mine still has quite a few.

That is by no means "short route" piping!

I was going to say the same thing. "Short route" piping with that style intercooler, or as short as it can be, goes out from the j-pipe, towards the alternator, around the core support, to the intercooler, out from the intercooler through the hole you enlarge next to the radiator to your TB. Even with all the cutting and pita you'll go through to fit it, it's still not that much longer to just route it "long route" style.
