Im doing a full rebuild and was wondering if autozone was good for reliable parts. Also I get 20% off any thing in the store. More parts like water, oil pump. Gaskets. Or are they ok for anything. Also looking at lifter and rollers and stuff. But cams cranks and pulleys will be from brand names. Thanks

Starter, Alternator.. yes. Water pump and oil pump I would say no, go oem. Lifters and Rollers, go OEM, they are cheap enough.

Remember, most autozone crap is exactly that, crap. Its cheaply made.

JNZTuning is the best place to go to for OEM parts.

I dont believe crower cams are direct drop in. I think they need to be degreed. You would need cam gears with them. As for 600hp, they should work fine but you will need a large turbo.. 35r or larger.

Well I plan on a port and polish for the head and maxing out my e316g but im wanting a safety net for my car. Im building the motor for 600hp but my normal out put will be what ever the e316g can do. If that makes sense

I haven't gotten any motor parts from there. I got stuff like a slave cylinder, rebuild kits for the master cylinder and things like that. My dad got a water pump and oil pump for the 60k service on his old 3000GT, and its been running fine with 50k+ miles on it since. But Id just go OEM. Some insurance for a little assurance.

I would not put things that could cause my engine to fail on a car to save a few bucks.

Yeah I understand but im on my phone and I understand rules are rules but Im starting to fall in love with the dsm product and can't wait any more to do research and was wondering if people were willing to give advice about their build and how it was working for them. But rules are rules and I apologize for the problem I've caused. I have lost all my free time due to a second job for my 1g dam rebuild. Lol

Only 2 things come from Texas ;)

In short I had a Autostone water pump on my new engine in the TTA. Not even 3K miles on it and it started overheating. I replaced the thermostat a few times being they are crap as well. Tried several other things and thought.... you think the pump could just be weak?!?!? It was flowing but not too well. I got a Peeping Tom Boy's one and worked fine. The only good thing about Atuostone is the warranty program.

Yep.. Autozone water pump and I started over heating about 3 months after putting it on. Put on a OEM and not a single problem since.

Oh holy dick nipples, I can't believe this thread.

The only thing from autozone I would use on one of my dsm's is an oil cap or starter. Their alternators aren't worth dick, using their hard parts would be begging to blow your shit up.

The question you should ask yourself is, "Do I want to save $20 now, and have to spend the money several times over to fix the issues caused by cheap shitty parts, or do I want to do it right the first time, using quality parts, and end up being cheaper and more reliable in the long run?"

OH MAN, I had one of their alternators once. LIFETIME WARRANTY means you will be replacing it every 2 months for a lifetime. Once I had to replace it in a matter of days. I became a PRO at replacing alternators (once in the Walmart parking lot...) I think one of my first JNZ orders was an alternator. That was like 8 years ago and haven't had to change it since...

Atleast theres the lifetime warrenty on a good portion of their parts and you can always even get a refund if it goes wrong or get store credit.

Store credit is only really useful if you plan on buying more of their shit...

Normally the only thing I go to Auto Zone for is fluids. If my wife's car needs windshield wiper fluid, or maybe coolant, and even then you can buy the same stuff at Walmart for a few bucks less on average.
