Has anyone installed the ExtremeMotorsports "stiff shift kit" for a 2G?

http://www.extrememotorsports.com/g2cat/transaxl.htm

When I ordered this, I thought it would be seperate bushing pieces, but it's actually a small aluminum rectangle with two holes drilled in it!

Does anyone know how to install this?

As well, my gear has a lot of slop in it which I can clearly see that it is attributed to worn/ripped rubber shifter cable bushings (where the cables attach to the tranny).

Short of replacing the shifter cables (as that is the only way of obtaining the rubber bushings from the dealer), how can I replace/renew/revitalize them?

lol - sounds like a quality piece!

I thought those went on the shifter cables where they attach to the tranny? I don't have them, so I'm only guessing.

Perhaps Energy Suspension or Prothane make replacement bushings for the shifter cables. If not, you'll probably just need to get new cables from the dealer or a junkyard.

well if your buying a stiff 'shit' kit as your title says.. yeah i assume an aluminum block would make it stiff :) LOL sorry had to do it.

by the description, it sounds like its supposed to replace the rubber bushings on the shifter mounting plate. i replaced mine with 8 washers from Home Depot. it stiffened up the feel quite nicely.

No no, what you just described is the symbroski shift kit that stops the shifter plate from moving.

What I got is this:

I'm not sure how to install this! Has anyone used this on a 2G?

One more time . . . I think those go between the shift cables and the levers on the tranny. Did you look to see if they fit?

I don't own a 2G, but I'm not stupid. If you do a search, you'll be able to read the same information that I did.

shifter linkage bushing

Ok I don't remember exactly where I read this, but I know it's possible to replace the cheap ripped bushings on the ends of the shifter linkages without replacing the shifter cables (a feat which I don't want to attempt).

Does anyone know how or remember something?

This peice is a pain to find where it goes. It took me forever. The instructions from Extreme are next to worthless.

First of all, I installed this on a 1G but I'll try to get you in the general area. Most importantly, it is not installed on the inside of the car. I took my shifter area completely apart before I finally figured that out. Look under the hood where shifter cables come to the tranny. On the 1G there is a plate that holds the two cables. Where this is mounted to the tranny is where this peice goes. There are a set of washers and rubber grommets that go between the plate and the tranny. Take those out and replace them with the shift 'kit'. Mine needed a little grinding and a lot of persuasion to get to go in straight.

Hope that helps.
