Re: Need help diagnosing squeaking noise will pay $10 paypal for whoever figures it o

Okay, the water pump and the alternator use the same belt and the power steering pump is a separate belt ran off the water pump. So there is two different noises one with the alternator and water pump belt on and with all other belts off, and there is a noise with the a/c belt on and all other belts off. When all the belts are off the noises disappear like in the videos.

The last video with no belts sure sounds like timing belt rubbing to me, maybe in addition to the others, but none the less...

That could be a possibility, great that means I could have three different sounds. I just need to diagnose them all properly so I can get them fixed.

That's because that IS an OEM water pump. GMB makes the OEM water pumps and they are way less expensive to buy a GMB vs the one that is marked OEM.
Dsm oem pumps are made by a company called Aisin, including the oil pump. There are about 30 different companies claiming to make the oem pumps for Mits for some reason, including topline.:dunno:

Disagree all you like, fact is that Mitsubishi ownes stock in Aisin, and in fact Aisin makes the transmission pump, some of the power steering pumps and (pull your clutch master cylinder and look) the clutch master and slave for the dsm. Aisin also now makes the entire transmissions for Mitsubishi. The confusion on your part is the WORDING, GMB is a company that makes O.E. REPLACEMENT parts, they are not an O.E.M. (original equipment manufacture, such as Aisin) O.E. replacement supplier can be said of almost any company that makes chinese knockoff parts that bolt on to any engine, they are INTENTIONALLY trying to decieve you with the O.E. part.

I disagree. And your picture sucks.
It's true though. GMB does not make OEM pumps. But they do last just as long, and the quality is just as good. Plus these new GMB pumps are made in Korea i believe, not Japan. Aka NOT oem. I have one in my garage new in box if you'd like me to show you.

OP:
Take off your timing components and check the idler pulley for any play in it. Overtightening the timing belt can cause this, and other pulleys to fail. I hope you followed the correct procedure on how to tighten the timing belt, and not just tighten it blindly. How is the slack on the belt? Could you take a video?
The reason I ask is because, regardless of the condition of your timing components, you probably have to replace the water pump. GMB makes great products, and I trust them in my DD, and my fast car. You can buy them at your local Advanced Auto Parts as well. That's where I bought mine. Or if you have a local Bap Geon.

Update us once you've completed these steps.

I have had the idler pulley bolt back out and cause the idler pulley to rub on the backside of the lower timing cover and sound similar, I have also seen the upper timing cover warp and sound similar.

The problem still isn't diagnosed,

I took the timing cover off to see if the noise goes away but it doesn't.
Here is another vid but with the timing cover off and the a/c belt off.

It almost sounds like it's coming from my camshaft area but I can't tell for sure. Any suggestions to what this could be would be appreciated.
Thanks
