I lost my keys and its been raining :(

Both windows are down, I need to roll them both up. Is there a relay or put 2 wires together or something so that I can roll them up? Run a wire from the battery to the relay or switch to power them??

Don't forget that I lost my keys, I can't open the ignition switch :chair:

Should be able to take off door panel and unplug plug from switch's and get a jumper wire and put one end on hot and other end on what ever one is up. Have to test it and figure out which is hot and which is up and down

Did the same thing, I put a car cover over my car and then a tarp to keep water out. I know this doesn't really solve anything at the moment but it gave me enough time to find a long lost spare. I'd figure out your key situation first and foremost. Replacing an ignition is expensive as hell.

You might be better off putting a tarp or something over the car instead of trying to roll up the windows.
Yup, the simple solution is the consensus for the short term. Put a tarp or car cover over it.

BTW, this is one of the disadvantages of power windows. I've lost track of the times I've turned-off the car's ignition, only to look over and find that my wife has failed to put her window up as I've asked ad infinitum.....

:chair:

Ask around and see if any DSM'er in your area has an extra ignition with a key. All you have to do is unplug yours, connect the plugs to your spare one and turn the key...that will allow you to roll the windows up. I have some spare ignitions, but not close to Chicago. Sorry

This is the answer Im looking for... I have to see if the haynes manual can guide me on positive n negative, i gotta learn how to read the charts...

Dealer don't make keys for 1g's... I tried this about 2 years ago when i lost my keys.. 2g's i think they still do.

For any 1g owner...take your pass door lock assembly n a locksmith will make you a key

This is what i wanted to do but the window is down n can't access the bolts to remove assembly...so thats why im wondering how to rolll up the windows...

Did you get the windows up? there should be a connector somewher around the kick panel so you dont have to get into the door. The window motors work by switching polarity so just run a + & - and it will either go up or down then reverse for the opposite.

Your problem is knowing the voltage to send. As someone above stated, you would have to have a working control panel to test which wire in the harness initiates voltage when you operate the switch.

Most times with these small relays it is a small unique voltage between 3 and 12v. There's no conventional way to send these types of voltages when most of them are only adapted when the ignition is set to "ON".

You might get lucky if the motor itself goes up when given +12V, otherwise you're asking to fry things putting 12v where they don't belong.

Take off the door panel. Get a battery and two jumper leads and unplug the window motor connector. Orientation of the wiring is one way is up flip the leads the other way and its down. I've done this many a time on different vehicles over the years.

To be honest i've never seen a window motor of any sort go bad after getting +12 volts to it a few times.

Better yet I haven't seen anthing inside the car go bad with +12 volts put to it. Including cig lighter, radio, window motors, fuel pump, dome lights, gauges, etc.

Although some of these do not typically recieve 12+- volts, I don't see any harm in giving them that voltage for little things like your situation.

By NO means am I saying "skip out on all relay's and just hard wire everything to the battery, it's totally safe" That is NOT A GOOD IDEA!

But for a one time thing, it shouldn't be a problem. So like stated just take off the door panel, and follow the wires coming off of the window motor and see what you can do with it.

Window motors need 12v. I am assuming that he no longer needs help but all he had to do was find the harness off the motor and apply power and ground.....
