Hello, I have searched for the past couple of days now and still have not come up with anything, so I thought I would ask. I am looking for a wright up for a glowshift fuel level gauge for a 99 GST (pictures would be nice as well). The ones that I have been finding are for every other type of gauge besides glowshift. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is the same concept with any gauge. Installing the sending unit correctly as to where it will show E when the tank is empty is the hardest part.

My recommendation from personal experience is get a quality gauge. And then install. There is a reason glowshift stuff is so cheap. Because it is garbage. I learned that lesson the hard way through two boost gauges, 3 trans temp gauges and 2 EGT gauges as well as various sending units. I finally gave up and told them to GFTS and got Isspro's.

I bought the car about two months ago and the fuel gauge did not work. The guy gave me a glow shift and a sunpro fuel level gauge and of the two I like the look and style of the glowshift. The only thing that confuses me is how to hook it up with the fuel sender in the back seat.

If the stock gauge didn't work it is most likely due to the fact that the sending unit in the back is broken. I promise you its 100x's easier to replace the sending unit than it will be to try and make that gauge work.

Do some searching. Parts stores, vendors etc. It is infinitely more beneficial to fix the OEM unit over putting garbage in and hacking up wiring. Think to yourself, there is probably a reason these gauges were not hooked up if it was "that easy." They probably attempted a fuel pump install, and could have simply clocked the sending unit wrong in the tank when reinstalling and stopped the float from moving correctly. Do some looking on Vfaq or searching here on the sending unit, and take it apart. Its easy to do. And if a simple fix can be made, you are that further ahead.

As far as I know there are no aftermarket gauges designed to work with DSM senders. Fuel gauges work off very specific resistance ranges and without swapping in a more common domestic fuel sending unit into your tank those fuel gauges will not work.

Diagnose and repair your oem fuel level system, they are not an incredibly common failure and as shott said its 90% more likely a sender issue than a pump issue.

He put in a different gauge cluster so im guess he may have messed up the sending unit as well. I guess ill pull it out tomorrow and take a look at it, and make sure the connection is accurate.
