yeh if i where you i would invest in a BIG 16g from buschur....then i would slap on a nice front mount, injectors, and do some port work.....ohh yeh i myselfe would recomend getting a walbro fuel pump also, it would help tremendously. OHH and heres buschurs website www.buschurracing.com i think the "BIG 16g" is like $890:D ohhh and good luck with everything and another thing....get yourself a full 2.5 or 3in exhaust

Mods for 16G

I would think about getting a downpipe and full exhaust aswell. U should also get a fuel pump. I would get the supra fuel pump
if I had to do it all over again, as the the walbro whines alot...if you don't mind that, then save yourself 100 bucks and get the walbro 255HP for around $110. Thing is, in order to get the most
out of these turbo's, its not the size of the turbo, its the supporting mods you have to go with it. U should also get an EGT gauge to monitor how hot your exhaust is getting, since as you increase the boost, usually the temp goes up. You don't want to fry your engine. IMO, no point in getting a bigger turbo if you don't plan on raising the boost to atleast 17PSI. Otherwise, maybe slap on a 14B. They are doing an article on a Galant right now in Turbo mag and they expect to be seeing 280+ HP to the wheels when its all said and done. Right now, they have over 300 tq, but they also installed a Front Mount and smth to help fuel cut from TRE. All the other mods were the basic's.

I forget what year your car is...if its a 2nd Gen like I am thinking, then you will also need the 300 buck adapter kit. If you have a 1st gen, then you already had a 14B which can be picked up rather cheap.

What makes a turbine housing bad.. I currently have a small 16G with a blown seal and shaft wobble, I am going with a big 16 ported and clipped.. but how do i tell if my turbine housing is any good.. cause if mine is good i would prefer to keep it. Alo tcheaper on teh wallet......

A turbine housing can be bad for usually two reasons.

One the turbine wheel had so much play that it contacted the housing at very high rpms and goes off like a bomb and chews up the surface.

or two there are too bad of cracks. There are to be expected some cracking. Surface cracks are OK. It is the really deep ones and the ones around the WG hole to worry about. The ones around the WG only need to worry about if you can see light through them with the WG closed. (very bad)

Other than that they don't go bad. I have seen turbine housings with 140K+ miles on them and you don some porting on them and you could never really tell they were that old.

I went with a 14b I got for 125, and even with the 200 dollar kit its a total of 325. And my times show the potential of 14b on 2g... But if you have more money than I was silling to spend, go with the big 28. Keep the boost to 14-15 until you get the rest of the mods. Good luck.

hey sorry guys i havent been around lately, the news on my car is my friend is going to sell me the 14b and all i need is new cooling lines and i should be all set finally, thanx all for your help, lata's ;)

You dont need new cooling lines. You dont even have to swap them front to back as the 16g in a 2g vfaq says to. Read Toms notes in red about it. You dont even have to cut the line shorter, just shove the tube in farther. Peice of cake. The only thing you -really- need is the J pipe, unless you rotate the comp housing as someone mentioned. The RRE hacker kit comes with that and the gaskets.

This turbo swap is SO easy. Just read the vfaq, they are there to help you ;)
