Why don't you just loop the radiator hoses ? I don't think it could be worse than someone running a non working thermostat ... How many miles away is the shop ?
Wow, honestly that isn't a terrible idea. That would definitely have worked for some of the local shops 7-10 miles away from me. I'll for sure remember that for future reference.

Good news though guys, I found a guy through a buddy of mine in my home town. It is 60 miles away though. I decided to just go ahead and do the fab portion myself and then take it to him for welding.

I was really worried about messing up, but I think the intercooler pipe came out pretty well?

Just gotta have it welded up now. I also marked on my radiator where I want the top neck moved to. I'm taking the parts to him tomorrow and hopefully he will have them back to me sometime in the middle of the week.

Depending on how far the shop is, You might be able to do what he said "loop the lines" and you could throw the heater on full blast.

I had to do that one summer to get home when a fan died. I let the heater-core be my radiator for a short drive home... hot as hell inside the car but it made it home without overheating.
Depends on a few things. But honestly I wouldnt run the car longer than it takes to reach operating temp. Maybe a minute or two longer. But this isnt like your just starting it up in your garage, letting it reach operating temps, than shutting it down. If your going to be driving it in it's current state this CAN cause overheating. Keeping the coolant contained to the motor will cause it to boil and built up pressure can cause things to starting blowing. Def can pop a hose. Good luck, man. Hope it works out for you

Wow DSM problems:

So through a friend of mine, I found a guy who would tig my pipes together. He also modified my radiator for me. I think he did an excellent job.

Special shout out to MacGSX as the custom upper pipe he made in his build thread was inspiration for the one that I built. Too bad there is no way to tag him on a forum, atleast if he sees this thanks man.

Got the car put all together, started it.....runs like total poo. Checked everywhere for leaks while it idled in my driveway. After everything was good I took here for a spin. Car is sluggish, slow to spool my turbo, and sounds like a lawnmower.

Took it back home and swapped the coil on plug for stock coils and wires (known working), same issue. This time I take a few logs. Get home and start reviewing them and notice the car is running very lean in boost. Since I've already ruled out the spark issue, it must be a fuel problem?

Verified pressure at the regulator, it was good. After some research, I found out we can shut off injectors individually in link. So by process of elimination, I go through them. Everytime I turn one off, the car really wants to die until I get to number 3. Turned it off, literally the car didn't react in the smallest bit. Turned it back on to no avail. Back off and on, still nothing. I get out and completely unhook it while the car is running, no change.

Got my test light out, sure enough the harness is getting power. Anyway, to avoid going on and on, I pulled and tested each injector with a 9v battery. My number 3 is not pulsating whatsoever, that thing is Kentucky fried. Got in contact with FIC, and shipped them off today actually. Hope to get a new set and be running ASAP.

Here is how she sits, just waiting my new injectors.

Also picked up a BRAND NEW set of headlights. I've never seen such a clear set.

To be continued........

Woot! looking good man!
Thanks man. I've had a heck of a time. Seems like everytime it is about done, something else pops up. Finally got it all together and it ran like garbage. Had to diagnose the "misfire" and come to find out one of my FIC 2150s is fried. Like not pulsating at all. Contacted FIC, and shipped them out same day. They are gonna take care of me even though I bought them second hand and had them over a year. That is a great company IMO.

Once I get those back, this car should run perfectly. I mean, what could possibly go wrong, go wrong, go wrong. What could possibly go wrong?.......

You HAD to get shinier headlights than me too. I re-skimmed MY thread, and saw that comment, and now you one upped me! damn you!

Hope it all comes together for you man.

Well, it has been a while. I've pretty much just been enjoying the car for now. I've yet to retune and I'm only at 21psi. Here is how she sits.

At this point, I think I'm done under the hood for a while. I've gotta install my new headlights yet, I want to redo the headliner, then just wait for the engine to blow lol.

Forgot to mention I had serious issues with how meaty these tires are with the Evo X wheels. I had to borrow a fender rolling tool and purchase a heat gun to bend the inner lip on the rear quarter. The lip was cutting into the tires because of how low it was. This is a huge reason I wasn't able to drive it for a while, I couldn't find anybody local with the tool.

I would have just bought one outright if I thought I would ever need it again. Made by Eastwood and worked really well.

Also had to pick up new door handles, a friend of mine ripped my pass side off :(.

I've been trying really hard to get Frontline Fab to make a billet CNC door handle but he fears there isn't much interest. But in the meantime, Rockauto hooked me up!

Lastly for today, I grabbed a Dynatek ARC-2 to assist my COP. I have had 0 spark issues so far Hx35, 21PSI, E85 but this will be just extra security.

Any and all feedback welcome, thanks for reading.

While the handle is out, you may want to consider Rcaz metal inserts

1st thing to address is that I can't even get into the car because both the door handles are broken off! To fix that I got the door handles removed, the one bolt is a PAIN when it’s rusted solid. Ordered the Rcaz metal inserts and got to work. ROOK hooked me up with some good 2g handles that were already black.

The Rcaz site has the "how to" on the fix so no need for tons of detail. Basically remove pins, band saw, and epoxy, install inserts then re-pin.

Not real sure what this picture shows but here it is. I have to get back into the swing of build thread picture documentation.

I asked my friend to move my car for me as it was blocking somebodys driveway. This is where/how he parked and as I was walking towards it, I thought it would make a nice picture. Too bad she wasn't all polished and waxed up.

Now that I'm a 2G...I totally feel your pain on the broken door handles. My friend has a set of cast aluminum ones but they are super rare...
