I have a few questions for those of you who have installed the 3” Drive Shaft Shop aluminum driveshaft on your 1G manual trans car.

1.) Once installed does the yolk protrude from the transfer case farther than with the OEM drive shaft? If so, by how much?

2.) Does DSS use the OEM mitsu slip joint portion in construction of their yolk on the 3 inch “650 HP” version?

3.) Is there an OEM spline engagement specification? If not, what is the diameter of the 1G 23 spline transfer case output shaft?

4.) Have you had any issues with your DSS driveshaft (i.e., length, spline twist, vibration, etc.) and how much horse power are you making? Providing other relevant info such as: weight, slicks or street tires, 60’, launch rpm and how long you have had the DSS shaft installed on your car is much appreciated.

I am trying to determine whether or not this drive shaft is a worthwhile and quality upgrade for drag racing taking into consideration multiple posts indicating DSS drive shaft failure and the overall lack of clarity on this subject.

Thank you!
Mike

We prefer that older "inactive" posts only be posted in if you have a question of your own or some type of new update for the post that will add some type of new knowlege to the post so that anyone searching in the future will be able to pull up a subject and get the latest information available from the post. Your liked here:) and we all know that there arent alot of "new" posts here for you to respond to, but try to be patient and not "bump" old threads unless you are going to add something relevent to them, I know that Spoolin has mentioned this to you and I dont want to see you get discouraged or griped at so just letting you know that you want to try to post only when you can add something of value, we dont mind a post being brought back from the dead if your adding something useful to it or asking a legitimate question that wasnt answered in it, but choose wisely! This isnt just aimed at you either, this is for anyone that has recently joined here that might not be aware.

The best way to check for recent active posts is to go over to your left pane on the Dsmtalk home page and hover down to the "recent posts" (second down) on the "site navigation" area, this will let you guys see whats currently being talked about. Also you can ask questions of your own by creating a new post if you have any legitimate questions that you dont see an answer to, even if its not a technical question there are areas for non tech questions, just sure to ask any questions in the forum that is the most appropriate for your question, example: dont ask about a turbo in the paint/body section or vice versa. Again, good to have you here and fear not things will get busy as the weather breaks!:)
