Howdy everybody,
I purchased not only my first DSM but my first FI vehicle a couple months back. The luscious lady I'm referring to is a '97 Talon AWD, and I've quickly become a fan of the potential in the 4g63 platform. Coming from a long list of GM vehicles in the past, several of which being built LSX cars, impressing me isn't the easiest of tasks.
I bought the car with a 6 bolt swap and the original 7 bolt head. Also came with an evo III 16g. Having spent the majority of the winter compiling parts and doing miscellaneous things to the Talon, I'm finally nearing the point of street-worthy-ness. I'm planning to run the car on e85, being in Indiana and having ease of access to the fuel makes it a no brainer in my book. Tuning will be done via ECMlink v3.
My questions are as follows :
With the e316g and e85 I'm shooting for an end goal of 400AWHP, how realistic is this expectation?
I will be running stock head studs for quite a while atleast. I'm under the impression that the 2g head studs are significantly stronger than that of the 1G, but will they be strong enough to reliably attain my desired horsepower level?
Car has an ACT clutch that was installed when I bought her and seemed to be in fine mechanical shape from the limited driving I did before the tear down. Should I address any other drivetrain items before giving daily duties to this old girl?
I'm sure that, based on what I've already said about the build, you guys get the main idea of what my concerns are. Any and all insight will be GREATLY APPRECIATED. One of the biggest factors that drew me to the purchase of this car is the helpful group of fellow enthusiasts that make up the majority of the DSM crowd.
Thanks in advance, fella's. I'm on my way up to Tunergalleria 2k14 at the moment, but would be more than willing to share some photos of the build process once I get back to the house.....If you all would like, that is.
Again, thanks in advance! I look forward to all of your replies.
