OK folks. As usual, I'm another little chickadee thats "in the market for a new turbo." (Qoutations obviously being hand qoutes)

Since this will be a daily driver, I'll never take it to the tracks. I've considered all my basic mods first (intake,bov,3"turbo back exhaust, gauges, fuel management mods, 2600, fmic, etc.)

I WOULD LIKE to make at least 300hp at the wheels. Its a gaol but not a neccessity.

I had it narrowed down between 2 turbos.

-Big28 from Forced Performance.
-Big16G (obviously)

I read ProjectGSX's great review, but I'm still in a bind. The Big28 has T25 spool time, and good high end. The 16G takes more time to spool but has more top end. The Big28 is cheaper. Damn. I'll rely on ProjectGSX's opinion though because hes had both. Actually I think he had the the "killer" 16G, which isn't rated as higher.

Any opinions/corrections??? Thanks guys..

If I was choosing between big28 or whatever fp is calling their new creation or a b16g, I would go with the t28. Its cheaper, direct bolt on for 2g'ers, no j-pipe, oil line, ect ect, it has almost, if not equal performance per all the reviews of it I have read. I dunno - imo its a no thought choice between the two turbo's. Why spend more money on the b16g and have the same performance as if you had paid less, not to mention the benefits of being a direct bolt-on.

I got a Big28 and LOVE IT!!!

Why not find used? I got a xs engineering 16 which is ball bearing and at a much cheaper price!

Know your source buying off the trader, it's easy to take it without lube on there ya know.

I would get the Big 28. It's a better match for the characteristics of the 2g 4G63 (more torque, instant spool). A friend of mine has OG T28/60 with the small compressor wheel. It's basically a T25 that holds boost to redline, but it can't make a lot of power because the design of the compressor wheel heats the air too much. They fixed that with the "big 28".

yeah but check the racers in your area. Most of them have 16g or other types of turbos. There is the benefit of it being new and being able to trust FP... to each their own

ok.. next question.. i was told by one of my sponsors that I can get a T28 from them for 550.00 and a spearco front mount intercooler for like 300 bucks.. so obviously im thinkin about jumping on this bandwagon.. Im assuming the T28 would be exactly the same correct?? do I need to have it ported etc etc before I receive it??

I just recieved my BIG28. I had it ported for an additional $95 bucks. The total came to $880 bucks, it's a direct bolt on with BIG 16G performance. The guy's at FP are some of the best prfessional people I have ever done business with. They will go way out of there way to help you in any way they can. BIG28 all the way!!!!!
