Well I'm driving to work this morning in my Firebird (DSM is down right now with the following mods:52mm TB w/airfoil and coolant bypass,FPR,Flowmaster Cat-back,160 degree thermostat and a hypertech power prgrammer which I did not have active(damn).

I see this green mustang GT drive past me we get to the first light. This was from a 20 MPH Roll i'm in and A/T he had M/T. I get the jump and we race to 90 and he was at my rear bumper the whole time he didn't pull on me I didn't pull on him.

Next Light from a stop..I suck at launching an AT so I squealed all the way thru first so he got ahead put again neither of us pulled

Third Light from a stop..I finally got a good launch so I pulled ahead and again neither of us pulled on one another.

Fourth Light there were no cars but i had to get to work so we did race again....He must have been modded more than me if neither of us pulled but all in all it was 3 solid races....It's funny noone races me in 3 months in the DSM but I drive around in the firebird for 5 days and I race and of course only mustangs race my firebird and I own mustangs. no other vette of f-body races me just mustangs...I don't know why.

It's just the opposite for me. All F-Bods, no Stangs. As a general rule, I don't race other mustangs. We just talk it up a bit at the light and that's it but every now and then you'll get the "Mustang Asshole" who thinks he invisible until he's looking at five big letters on my bumper. C O B R A I know I'm not the fastest either but...

what does your 96 formula run 1/4 mile? i usually beat lt1 fbodies that are stock in my 2000 gt. if those things are modded, watch out.......they are beasts. my friend has put ram air, pulleys & a power programmer on his 96 z-28 & i beat him. what mods do you have? i will tell you if he was modded.

Stock for stock, Lt-1's are about even with the 99-01 Gt's. It all comes down to how good the driver is.

Yea, it seems like Ford is a few years behind.

actually ford went:
forward: the 302 (5.0) was a proven race engine that was in production longer than the model t

back: mid 90's 4.6 - the gt's were really slow stock

forward: the 99+ 4.6 was faster stock than both. (from what i have learned from user above 5.0, slightly faster than notch backs stock)

the camaros & t/a's are fast but they also come at a slightly higher price. i think 1-2K more for the z28 & like 4-5k more for the t/a. (that's a supercharger)

Uhh..T/A's don't come with a stock supercharger. The WS6's and the firehawks have a ramair induction system, but thats it. GM does think that they can charge you 4 to 5 grand more for the ramair though...I don't know if it's worth that much for 15 extra horses

My mods are posted in my first post but I will repeat them hear

following mods:
K&N Intake
52mm TB w/airfoil and coolant bypass,
AFPR,
Flowmaster Cat-back,
160 degree thermostat
hypertech power prgrammer which I did not have active(damn).

Lightley modded becasue I got the talon just a little while afterwards and the mods are so much more expensive then the talon.

He meant that with the extra 4-5k they want for the ramair you could buy a supercharger for a Mustang. :)

Yeah, massive lay offs and plant closings. In addition to that the cougar, escort, villeger and continental will be killed off due to low sales. That don't bother me. I didn't plan on buying any of them anyways. But there will be many New and updated models that ford promised will hit showrooms within the next couple of years. One of those models happens to be the mustang.

Next months chicago auto show will introduce the new Cobra and 400hp S/c cobra terminator.
