**note This post was either moved or accidentally posted to the racing forum. Sorry for the double-post but I don't need racing help... I need tech help. **

Got my hands on a 90 GSX a few months back and want to get it in shape for Street Prepared class autox'ing. The center diff is broken so I'm currently pulling my tranny and sending it to bmtranny for a rebuild and some goodies =).

Here is the list of mods I plan to do:

Intake:

Filter........................................K&N w/hacked can
MAS.........................................Stock
Intake Tube.............................Dejon Tool
Lower Intercooler Pipe...............Dejon Tool
Intercooler...............................Dejon Tool
Upper Intercooler Pipe................Dejon Tool
BOV..........................................Stock
Boost Control...........................Stock (cannot change)

Exhaust:

Manifold...................................2G - Ported
Turbo.......................................14B - Ported (cannot change)
O2 Housing..............................Stock - Ported
Downpipe ................................2.5" Extreme
Cat/TP.......................................2.5" Extreme
Cat-Back..................................3" Extreme

Anyone see problems running these mods without aftermarket boost control/hacked MAS, etc? From what I've read of the rules the entire intake and exhaust paths are free reign, as long as I stick with stock turbo and boost control. Of course I'll be doing the important things first: 16x7.5 Kosei K1's wrapped in Kumho Ecsta V700 225/50-16's. I've replaced the shocks with AGX's and plan on adding an RMDSM rear sway.

All comment/suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Blake

If you're doing some auto-x I would get some strut bars as well and some nice adjustable shocks. I would also choose the 2g o2 housing at a bare minimum as the 1g one is smaller and with that exhaust setup you may experience a little creep. Maybe not but it can't hurt.

O yea, what's up with the boost and the turbo? How come you can't change them? At the bare minimum you could pull the boost solenoid restrictor out and gain another 2psi or so.

When you say you can't change the boost, does that mean you can't have a boost controller? By putting on a 1G BOV you will gain boost.

Basic Street Prepared SCCA rules.

No changing of the Turbo system or any part of said system to circumvent the stock boost controlling system. The debate that is currently raging is if the swap to a 1G CBV(BOV) is legal or not. It is not part of the turbo system as the turbo does not need the CBV (Circulation Bypass Valve, BOV is only really ones who vent to the atmosphere) to work. This affects 2G's more than 1G's obviously.

You have McPherson struts for your front suspension which tends to load more positive than a 2G control arm suspension which tends to load more negative under cornering loads. Get lots of negative camber as best and legally as you can. You will need it in the fronts.

Also if you can, get those kosei's with enough offset to fit 245/45/16's on them. Good adjustable shocks is a must. AGX's are good for a 1G. Depends on cash. A good coilover system would compliment the shocks well.

Tevenor - I'll make more suspension adjustments as I get a feel for the car on the course. Already have the AGX's taken care of. I'll look into the 245 width tire and offset needed for it, thanks for the advice.

16g-95GSX - Hadn't thought about swapping the O2 housing, Good call there, thanks.

dsm1995gst - Already have a 1G bov... I have a 1G =)

Thanks guys,
Blake
