Nope stock suspension for now. My last dsm was slammed and I hated it, so I'm staying stock heighth with some stiffer shocks, if and when I decide to upgrade the suspension. Sway bars will be before the shock/coilover investment also.

FWIW....grayson, the guy that I got all the original info from, was running 15mm spacers and he said the wheels did not stick out or anything. Remember that the spacer is only trying to get the wheel into the correct stock position, not actually push the wheel out further than stock. All youre trying to do is compensate for the different offsets of the rim.

If you want to make absolutely sure, I'd call tire rack and ask them for the 16x8 offset for dsms and the 16x8 offset for rx7 rims. The difference is the spacer you will want to minimize rubbing and bearing wear. I cant really see how bearing wear would be an issue, since you are not pushing the wheel out, only putting it to the correct dsm stock position. The centerline of the tire should be the same as stock, therefore it should not stress your bearings.

15mm spacers are what he told me, and this is from a regional SCCA solo2 autocross champion.

For the record, 7/32 equals about 6mm.....thats a pretty big difference from 15mm, and I wouldnt be surprised if it rubs.

I would guess that the centerline of your tire with the 7/32 spacer is actually narrower than stock...meaning, your wheels are closer together than stock.

I just called tirerack....they don't have wheeloffset info. But they said it should be written on the back of the rim.

FWIW....if you are looking for lower priced rims that are lightweight, check out the

Kosei K1 racing....16x7.5 15lbs...$159 tirerack.com

Lenso VPD....16x7 15lbs......$170....rodmillenstore.com under axis wheels.

Enkie RP-01...16x7 15.7lbs.....$120 discounttire.com

Rx7 wheel.....16x8 16lbs....online used $100 + spacers.

or if you have a crapload of cash:
Racing hart CP035......16x7 10.5lbs......$300+++

1. is $500 a good deal on a set of FD wheels with worn out Eagle GSC tires?

2. Will the FD wheels fit over gst brakes with the AEM rotor upgrade?

tia.
$500 is OK....I've seen them for 400, but I think the rx7 guys have caught on that we are using them now so the price has been jacked. Still a good deal IMO.

As far as the AEM thing....Id have to say no, they most likely won't fit. I believe you need 17's at least to clear the rotors. I'd just call AEM and ask 'em.

yes lowering WILL have a huge effect on your tires rubbing. My last dsm was lowered 2" with Intrax springs and 225/45/17 tires on the rims, and THEY rubbed the fender lips. There's some talk of "rolling" this lip to make the tire clear it. I took a saw to mine. All I'm saying is that this tire combo works great for me on my STOCK suspension, when you start lowering and changing camber and shit, proceed at your own risk.

BRAKES

The aem bb kit should fit. RRE says you only need 17s for the gsx kit because the gsx has biggere calipers. If you put the GSX calipers on a gs-t, then you will need the 17s. Plus I'm sure the Rx-7 has big brakes stock so you should be fine. If you want to get GONZO with wheels, the guy from far north racing runs 17x9s with 275s. You could run a search for far north racing and find his home page. They look like they might stick out a little but damn, thats a lot of rubber.

Deos anyone know how much Centerline RPM's are per wheels? I've looked all over the net and can't find a price anywhere. Oh by the way these wheels weigh 13.5lbs for 17x7 and 15lbs for 19x8!

Can someone post a link to the place you got your spacer from? I want the less expensive spacers. I only paid $200 for my RX7 rims and cant see spending twice that for spacers from H&R. Also somewhere to get the lug nuts from, im going to run the 225/50/16 tire size.

I just got my FD wheels for $150! all four had Eagle GSC tires with 1/8" of tread left too.

I put the front ones on and it feels like less than 1mm of clearance from the control arm. I used the stock lug nuts too. I should change the nuts to cone's before I drive it i guess.

Just wanted to add this for the archives i guess.

98 GST, H&R sport springs, and no spacers = almost 0mm clearance but spinning freely.

Also, they fit fine over the AEM gst rotor upgrade.

I'm not sure you will even need a spacer with a 225/50 tire. But if you think you will:

I got my 7/32" spacers from Jegs, here in Columbus.

www.jegs.com
5 lug 7/32" spacers
$10.99/PAIR.
PART# 720-2370

And the cone seat spline lug nuts can be bought from
www.discounttire.com
I don't understand how you can use a 7/32 inch spacer with 245s. That is about 5.5 mms and that is almost 10 mm off of what others are using and what can be calculated as correct by looking at dsm offsets and the offsets of the rx7 rims. Are you sure its 7/32 and not at least 7/16? If it wouldn't be too hard, do you mind measuring the width of the spacer?

The perfect inches to mm would be about 19/32 adn thats 15.08 mm.

Sorry, I don't mean to attack you. I just got my rx7 rims and will be running 245s and want to be sure about what I'm doing. Thanks alot

I tried mounting the wheels with the 7/16" spacer and there ISN'T much stud left for the lug.

Not enough for my liking so keep that in mind with the larger spacers.
Will 7/16 work with 245s? I hope so as thats all I can find availible in town for a decent price. I've already realized taht I need new lugs, I just need to know what kind to get now. ?
