and i'm sorry about vfaq.com..... i learned all kinds of useful stuff.. just didn't find what i was looking for....
This is exactly what I mean. Why did I build and write this webpage (with Marco) if people such as yourself can't find it or are unwilling to look more than past the end of their nose ( and yes it is under the VFAQ's under the engine section. Its called 'Installing a 1G engine in a 2G')

1G to a 2G swap the Magnus Method

This isn't towards 97'talonTsiAWD but in general:
I wrote this list up for Marco after he did the first prototype 1G CAS swap with my engine. He had the car 3 months making sure it was a possibility and getting it to work right. I could have had done the RRE method in a month myself. I am not going to take the high road and say "I did it for all DSM'ers everywhere" but after I DID THE RESEARCH and asked THE RIGHT QUESTIONS. I believed there had to be a better way and if it makes easier for other people with blown engines then great, I feel like I contributed to this DSM community as a whole. But I don't see that same attitude in the newcomers to this board and it pisses me off.

I am not saying I am an elder or that I know everything. Far from it. But the people that really did know everything long since left this board exactly for this reason. And I will tell you, I know the VFAQ, DSM.org, this board and other like the back of my hand. I have searched so many times it would make you sick. But its because I want to know what makes my car tick. I am the one installing everything and I am the one making the choices so you are damn skippy I will know every bolt, weld, and nut on my cars. And I am still learning, everyday I ask myself a question and go find the answer.

It used to be people bought DSM's so they could do the work themselves and try new things and share them with other DSM'ers and still get awesome performance no matter if it was on the drag strip, the road course, or the auto-x course. Now it seems DSM's are just a performance way of getting into a fucking Honda club. I understand that new guys are joining all the time as the cars get cheaper and cheaper. But for christ sake, the car is now 12 years old. Don't you think SOMEONE in that time would have answered almost any question you might think to ask?

I found 64 threads for you:
that just sums it up right there. If you don't know how to do a 1g in a 2g motor swap, that's totally fine. If you don't know how to use the search function correctly, then I suggest you do some 'practice searches' for other things at www.google.com or www.altavista.com.

When someone tells you to go to VFAQ.com, they are probably telling you because THE INFO IS THERE. VFAQ is a great resource for almost all types of modifications. Hell, I even wrote up a comprehensive VFAQ myself to help repay the DSM community for having shared such great info.

Unlike Tevenor, this IS directed at 97'talonTSIAWD:
Quit bitching about no one giving you good info when it is right there, in front of your nose. Marco and Sean gave EVERYONE very good info when they discovered how to do it, and also when they posted it to the world via the webpage. And just a tip, if you aren't even competent enough to find info about swapping a 1g motor into a 2g on VFAQ.com, then I doubt you are even close to competent enough to actually do the swap.

[Edit: since I can't edit my other post anymore I will include this edit here]

By the way, just for clarity sake, Marco did all the hard work. I just donated a blown engine/some ideas/tested the car.

hey guys i have been on several other vehicle forums and none of them are as rude as this one. they either answer your question or tell you where to look for it or they just ignore your post. i understand no ne likes to repeat themselves..so dont. dont bother replying. in the time it takes to bitch about someone posting a previous subject......you could have answered the persons question. thats my opinion i welcome yours..........lol

awww.. i wouldnt sweat what these guys say..they tend to get this why every so often.. just like those rock hard dsmer that be at the track that run 11s and 12's in there awd, but give you curious looks when you bust low 13's in a mildy moded ffwd. $hit kills me LOL.. but hit the search button before you post to avoid..people like that. just my .02 cents

yeah... i know... but i don't think i should have opened my mouth...
the only problem i still got is the "elders" of this forum and every car forum thinking they are the "GODS" of the forum...
i mean damn just because they are OLD doesn't make them any better than me...
or you or anyone...
But that isn't just aimed toward the "Elders" of this forum.. it's a netwide problem....
Shooo i don't know if any of you all go to www.nloc.com and look on their forum... well actually the forum movie to www.nloc.net
but anyways i acted like an idiot on there and flamed alot... if anyone was there about a month ago or maybe a month and a half ago they saw in the "war zone" i created all kinds of trouble... they banned me over and over... but i'm not that way anymore...
the people over there have major problems... but i love this forum...
I love DSM's....
dsm's are some of the best looking vehicles on the road...
it doesn't matter if they are fwd, fwd turbo, or awd turbo they all look good....
just my 2cents...
well yet agian i say sorry....

97'talonTsiAWD, what the h*** are you saying sorry for? It's just one persons opinion and everyone else is backing you lol. MORE POWER TO YA GSX OWNER! haha... im just kidding, but not about the being sorry part. You will learn to give it right back and state your opinion/arguments like its english 21ls up in here. Enjoy and welcome to the boards.

i don't actually own one...
i have some threads on here... i have some pics of the 97 TSI AWD talon i'm looking at it's pretty cheap... they are asking 4500 for it.. it has a clunking sound but it looks so freakn sweet... i will probably get it... and do a motor/tranny swap... or what ever is needed...

Hmmm...... This was definately an intresting thread and I would like to share my thoughts on this.

When I was a " newbie" ( well, i still consider myself one) I didnt even want to post my questions w/ out doing some kind of research in thoughts that i would just be made fun of. I knew nothing about cars - I mean nothing-. So i would just read most of the threads in every forum and when i would say to my self " Whats that guy talking about" I would take the word or topic i didnt understand and search for it. Ill tell u what... I found that Search function very usefull, and still do. Now I understand how a motor works and basicaly what needs to be done to make it produce more power and keep it from breaking( as much as I possibly can.lol). For most of the time ive been a member on this board I had my beat up 90 Plymouth laser n/t. Just about 2 months ago i purchased my 90 Talon AWD turbo.... and man do I love it... Its even given me its fair share of problems... and now I am finaly getting some hands on experiance and using the search function a lot more :D

So now I read about how these " newbies" get all pissed off when someone is actually helping them out in the long run, no matter how they do it. So technicaly the " elders" arent wasting their time, the original poster is, because they did not use the search function to get the answer that they want right away, and if u dont know how to use a search engine/ function or whatever.. i feel sorry for u.

damn...

I didnt realize asking a simple question would turn this into a heated discussion ~_~. Anyway, ya i admit, im a newbie when it comes to cars. Hell this is my first car and i purchased it on my own, so i dont have anyone or anything but research to help me out. I just figured since this was the "Help" forum, that i'd post a simple question that most of you gurus would know. I'm sure if i used the search engine that i could find "something" along the lines of an answer, but i figure it would be more helpful to me if i got a direct answer to my question and in no way did i mean to irk the "elders" just cuz i didnt use the "search" button before asking. Admit, newbies (like myself) are going to ask stooopid questions or questions that have been answered before,,,but i think that goes with anything. If your in a class, you only help yourself by asking instead of trying to figure it out yourselves soemtimes. Im not asking anyone to hold my hand and answer EVERY question i have about my car, i DO research and am trying to learn about my new turbo car, it was just a simple question. But sarcastic or not, everyone on here has been more than helpful and i've learn better than to open my mouth and type on this forum BEFORE hitting the search button ^_~

thanks guys

hope i havn't ruined my welcome here....
Nah.. I know it's hard not to take some of the crap personally and some of the comments might sound very rude and insulting to you, but none of it is meant really seriously. The same person who you thought was the biggest ass to you yesterday might give you the most helpful advice tomorrow. Take it easy, of course you're welcome here... :D
