ok look at my sig. for my mods. i want to know if anyone thinks that the 2g mas would have any effect on knock? am i more prone to knock w/ my hacked 1g mas? and how should i use my safc to monitor hertz to see if i am loosing any counts? and where in the rpm band should i be looking for lost counts? lot of questions i know. i appreciate your time and knowlege.

sig's messed up........

i have a 1990 tsi.

Hacking the maf runs you leaner, hence more knock, espicially in colder weather when air is more dense. The 2g maf is more accurate when tuned, and also I've heard it increases your gas milage slightly... but idk on that one.

Get an EGT gauge. A few knocks here and there at low rpm at idle or the like arent tooo bad, but at boost and high rpm you shouldnt knock. Why dont you riched the S-AFC a little bit and see, but did you do the "blue wire mod"? That puts out the 02 sensor voltage as sensor #2 in the sensor check menu. Let the car warm up for like 20min of good slow driving and hit full boost and watch it closely as you go up the rpm band. If it's low at any point, thusly richen it up a little. Otherwise maybe you've got something else wrong that's giving you knock (like a bad knock sensor, a bad fuel filter, low octane, "phantom knock") but check into that...

My car ran like crap in the winter with a hacked mas. I was getting knock counts at low rpms. Changed to a 2G mas and the problem was gone. What are you waiting for? A 2G mas whith a dejon intake and 660cc injectors. This will make it easyer to tune your car, without all the hassles of tuning around a 1G mas. I got mine for 100.00 dollars from mitsu graveyard.

yeah i have one already to go on the car. i had it on there before and took it off before i got my logger. so now i'll throw it back on and see what happens! hey do you have any other pics of your car, it absolutly, exzactly what i want my car to look like. i've done no exterior work to my car except eibach pro kit, and i lower the car more when i sit in it then they do, and i only weigh 180lbs! and if you could tell me what wheel/ tire/ spring package you got, i would be extremely greatful. beautiful car man, later.

It's amazing how many compliments I get on my car, I knew what I wanted to do with the car from the day I bought it. I hate to admit it, but I love the way a 2G looks so much, that I forget how good mine really is. I am using 5-Zigen Imperio 17in rims with 215-40 ZZ1 Avons. I would have gone with 45s istead of 40s though. The 40s are so low, that thers too much of a gap between the fender and the tire (only my opinion). I have coilovers on the car and at the lowest setting, I just dont have enough travel in the front. So with the proper hight or needed travel thers still enough room for 2.5 fingers between the fender and tire. I was looking for 1 or so, but all in all they offer a nice look to the car, and they grip like mad. I did some custom work to the front and rear of the body as well. I also removed the orange corner lenses, but the pic was taken before I did that . Personally A FMIC would, and will look awsome. Notice the talon center peice in the front, much better looking than stock, as it helps separate the light housings. Anyway getting back to the post. You really should upgrade those injectors to 660cc as the 450cc will run lean with the 2G mas, even with a S-AFC to richin things up, you will just hit fuel cut that much faster (unless you have a TMO ecu), let alone the 16G you already have on. Don't waste your time with 550cc injectors, as 660cc will help you stay rich and help in delaying fuelcut even further. Add spoolins A-FPR(if they ever make them available) and set the base press back to 38lb and you will be ready for seriouse tunning. Sorry for the long post, hope this helps.

So you think 550s are a waste of time??? Going with 660's, will that eliminate the need to upgrade later unless I plan on going with a MASSIVE turbo?

I just wonder what everyone's opions are on what injectors to upgrade to???

550cc are not a waste of time, many have used them with good results. It's kind of like buying a 2.5 inch catback VS. a 3 inch cat back. And remember 660cc injectors will help fight off fuel cut as you can trim the Hrz down more on your afc. Remember a 2G mas flows about 20% more air at the same hrz, now wene you get 550cc injectors they run about 20% more fuel. So your basicly back were you started from as far as tuning. 660cc injectors will give you more "play" as far as tuning , becouse you will be ahead of the fuel cut game. If you get a TMO upgrade then 550cc injectors will do the job for your 16G setup, but remember if you upgrade your turbo again you may need larger injectors anyway. The choice is yours. If it was me I would get the 660cc and be done with it. Pluss if you are using race fuel at the track, and want to crank up the boost, you may end up leaning out with 550cc injectors anyway.

How well does this combo sound?
Big 16G
2G MAS upgrade
S-AFC
B&M Adjustable FPR
550 Injectors?
Do you think that could work, or would 660s really be needed, cause I think some guy is sending 550s this week, and my MAS looks like it took a shit on me today.
Well also upgraded Fuel Pump, FMIC(before turbo)

I would buy a Spoolin AFPR instead. As far as injectors, Indy race core has some good injectors, they are ball and disc, wich are better than the pintle style. Use a dejon hard pipe intake to hook your 2G mas too. I would go with 650cc injectors. You should be all set after that.

Need some knowlege Rodman.

I went back to the 2g mas, and you were right the difference is awesome it's so much easier to drive and tune, only now I can't run any more than 15psi without running lean. I just talked with Tim @ Buschur today, and he said I should get a vpc. I don't have that kinda money right now though. With my setup where should I get my injectors and what size? and how did you tune yours with what inj's and so forth. We seem to have pretty similar setups (with the exception of yours looking dope as shit, and my all stock). Thanks for the info.

I dont think a VPC is in line, unless you plan a ton of more mods, and running low 12's or 11's and still you dont have to have a VPC. You only have a 16G so its not like you have a huge turbo. I dont think you would need any larger than 550's. You could go the SAFC route, which I think is the best way, you could find one used for 250 and get 550s for waaaaay less than a VPC.
My 2 cents.

Don't go with 550cc, spend the extra 25 bucks for the 650cc, it will help you tune much better, especialy with spoolins AFPR. About injectors, wile it's true with a 16G you may never need anything bigger than 550s. But 650s will help you with fuel cut more than 550s and the ball and disc type will not give you the common problems associated with pintle style ones. I bet you would idle better with 650cc B/D than you would with 550cc pintles. The extra 'play' in the 650s will go a long way in tuning and relyability not to mention if you upgrade your turbo again. The intake pipe is model # cip/2ga. A vpc is rediculas for what you are after for HP. You already have a S-AFC so all you need is what I mentioned above. After that start looking into a FMIC, this will add about 30-40hp more.

650cc Ball and disc?? Where?

I've only seen 660cc for $450. Where can I find 650cc ball and disc for $25 over 550cc? Reply soon because I want them by friday (if you read this soon). Rodman your info has been extremely helpful, thank you.
