Going to buy '98 GST but I need your opinions....

Okay guys here's the deal. I have been browsing this forum for a few months now getting info about the Eclipse. Well an opportunity has presented itself to me and I might go through with it. The car is a burgundy 98 GST hardtop with tan leather interior but, it has 77,944 miles. There are minor scratches on the underside of the front bumper(I emailed the guy and he said that is all that is wrong with the car cosmetically). Now what I need from you guys(the experts)is your opinion if this is a good deal or not. I'm really not sure about the turbo like when does it usually go out or is that even a factor I need to worry about. I really don't know a lot about the Eclipse engine. This car will not be driven daily either only on the weekends in nice weather. The car is on ebay but no one has met the reserve and the guy said he would sell it to me for $8,900. Is there a particular reason you are looking at a GST instead of a GSX?

For mileage comparison, my 99 GSX has 67k on it.

the reason being is because all of the GSX's i've looked at are in really bad shape. Don't get me wrong AWD would be pretty pimp but i just can't find any decent one's for sale in my area. And I really like this GST.

Well, the mileage seems fine and the price is right.

Did you do a compression test? Did you drive it?

The 4G63 engine is incredibly strong. It is not rare to find people who get 150k out of them.

Except for crankwalk, you have nothing to worry about.

If the compression is right, and the car drives well - then yes I would say it is worth it.
