Now you are talking!!! I have the normal A/F one and that things is just there to give headaches

my autometer a/f gauge just bounces back and forth. it is annoying as hell and pretty much worthless. is this thing supposed to be always bouncing all over the place or do i have a bad connection?

It should steady out under WOT. About the only good thing that a blinky a/f gauge will do is give you some warning clues. If you are going WOT and you see that blinky light drop voltages, then you know you need to start checking things out.

I think he is saying that it is re-calibrated. The stock Autometer A/F's were reading the wrong voltage range if I remember correctly.

Well, you can see if you're running too lean, if you don't go green under WOT you better either fix a fuel problem or turn the boost down.

Under idle or constant, steady throttle, the gauge will bounce back and forth, since the computer constantly adjusts the ratio from rich/lean to get the best mileage etc.

Then again, if you are running 'rich' all the time, maybe there's a problem with your MAF or something else....

Plus, it looks cooler than all hell, and people thing you have some wicked ass radar detector.

Hmmmm.... Never heard that. Either way, the LED A/F gauges are useless.

Depends on how you look at it. I like to have my AFC on the moitor screen which doesnt let you see your a/f values. Because of this, the blinky light is semi-useful because as long as I am WOT and the gauge is pegged full rich (NOT an autometer gauge), I am good. If it starts to drop then I know something is up. Of course this is not the only thing to use to monitor, but it is an extra level of protection.

He takes Autometer gauges and changes the range they display. So instead of each bar representing like .90-1.00 it reads in smaller increments. However, each particular bar on the graph is still not labeled which means they are still very hard to read.

But yes, definitely of some use compared to the normal gauge.

go to www.machv.com and look under interior and then gauges... the re-calabrated a/f gauge is there... its installed now and its much better than my friends regular autometer... but just to be on the safe side i aslo got an egt gauge..

Hmmm.... first I've heard of it. I guess it makes it more usefull than just a "Blinky" A/F gauge. ;)

Hey guys do any of you have the autometer z-series a/f gauge? There is another one available that looks almost exactly the same but the only difference that i could see between the two is that one has a silver outter edge and the z-series have the all black edge, which i like more. Do they all have the yellowish/orange & green lights to indicate lean/rich?
