ive searched, and what i have discovered is that when you push the clutch in and here a clicking from the engine, its sometimes crankwalk, now i have a question.....

before i got in an accident, my belts started squealling, and also i started hearing a clicking that sounded like something hitting everytime it made a rotation, and it didnt happen sometimes, i think it might have stopped when i would turn.

info on car:
1. belts just started squealing
2. diagnosed that the pad on the steel shift fork slid off (causing it to slip out of gear anytime i tried shifting in. this was diagnosed from buschur racing and other local dsmers.
3. clicking sound when clutch pushed in (sounded like everytime something rotated, and it kind of sounded like it was coming from the direction of the tranny.
4. car had 115k miles and had 165psi compression in each cylinder (never rebuilt)
5. ran extremely good
6. 2100# clutch
7. recently welded diff
8. many upon many awd launches

best time is mentioned in sig, also my carrier bearing was getting worse, i could really feel it when i launched.

i have the head off the car right now since im going to be transfering the engine to another dsm (when i find one, think i did) the pistons and cylinder walls look really really good.

any suggestions on what the clicking could have been, i know for a fact it wasnt the belt hitting, cause i check the belts like 3 times, and it sounded like passenger side or middle of engine bay

I know that any cars can get crankwalk, but I've NEVER heard of a documented case on a 1g. Good luck, let us know how it turns out or what the problem is. BTW, I LOVE THAT PIC!

The clicking is something other than cranwalk. Six bolts don't have the crank angle sensor which is what causes the clicking when a 7 bolt CW. Eventually the crank angle sensor gets beat on enough and breaks...hence the car dies. There are some people who think lots of 1gs might CW and no one knows because there is no sensor to run into and start clicking.

Mine makes the same noise. Is it like a creeking\clicking noise? It comes from the tranny, I think it is my pressure plate b\c when I blew my trans pices if the trans thrashed my pres plate. I was forced to reuse the pres plate, but got a new disc. BTW it is ACT 2600.

like DanD said, if you have a 1g, that noise is not the sign of CW. did you also get a new throughout bearing with the clutch? usually they sound more like a grinding sound though, but just a thought.

also, when i recently opened my tranny up, i realized 3 of the metal tabs broke off my clutchmasters pressureplate, and beat up the inside of the housing pretty good. and one of them somehow got moving so fast that is actually shot through the bell housing, right next to the starter. it was a triangular piece about 1/2 inch long and 3/8 inch wide. and it was also hitting my flywheel and wore a little grove in it. since you said you were pulling the engine, i would cerainly look around in the clutch area for anything unusual. i doubt its the same as what happened to me, but you never know.

My mom's mustang names the same noise, i noticed it when i was driving it the other day, pulled out of a stop sign and as i let the clutch out it was a short creaking noise, didnt sound like damage was being done, but just wondered the hell outta me.
