Ok, heres what happened. I raced this 98 Cobra Mustang with MT slicks and he kills me off the line but by the time I get traction I pull on him like mad only I didn't pass him by the time the race was over. I get pissed that this Slobra beat me because it was obvious the only reason he did was his damn MT's. I ask if he wants to race again and he says yes. I am flamed right now and do a burn out to heat the tires up so I might have a some chance of traction. Heres where the tranny goes BOOM! I rev it up and drop the clutch and it spins to about 7300 RPM(OOPS!)and shift into second and I here a loud pop under my hood. I thought the engine went boom, but it ran fine. Then I shift into second and it grinds like hell, third same thing. I drive it home and the grinding in third goes away pretty quickly but the second gear grinding doesn't. I am pretty sure I blew a synchro or something. If there are any other ideas please tell me. I guess its time for a rebuild. I have a couple of questions. I would like to build it to handle a lot of power as I plan on adding a bigger turbo later on. I plan on taking the tranny out myself and taking it somewhere to be rebuilt. About how much should this cost?? Would it be cheaper to buy a rebuilt one?? What should I have done to make the tranny stronger?? Also, does anyone know of any good places to have this done within a 100 mile or so radius of Atlanta, GA?? Good performance shops perhaps. How much would it cost to ship it to someone like Buschar and have him to a rebuild?? I would really appreciate any ideas on what to do. Since I am taking the tranny out any way, I plan on putting in a RAM clutch. Has anyone had any experience with this clutch, please share. Money is very very tight but want the best for my baby. Help me out guys!!
