Above is the link to part 1. We raced again last night. Since the last race he has added some mods to his car and so have I. In addition to what I had before I've added HRC UIP and a Greddy BOV, 2.5" downpipe, 2.5" test pipe and an AFC with Hi settings only adjusted to -1. I'll be at a dyno soon to see how much leaner I can go. He has added shorty headers, cone air filter, H pipe and a 3.73 gear to his Stang.

I've driven his car and he has driven mine. We were each equally impressed with the others car. So we're out with 2 other friends following along in their cars and get to a light. We're side by side in the two turning lanes. He says "when we get to the straight way lets go". Fine by me. I don't want to start a race while making a left turn away, especially since his Stang likes to get squirrely. So at the end of the turn I'm at the top of 1st gear shifting into 2nd and its on. We raced through all of my 2nd and 3rd gear before traffic came up and I had to slow down.

Result; we were dead even again. I couldn't pull on him and he couldn't pull on me. It was door to door the whole way through. I know he expected to pull on me, especially with that 3.73 gear which really makes accelerating much faster. He has been meaning to beat my GST since the last time we went door to door. After modding his car some more, racing me with the same result must be dissapointing for him. Going door to door with a modded (although just bolt ons) 5.0 was satisfying for me. I'm still on the T25 and stock SMIC.

good one

good race...i saw that you have a s-afc? is it hard to tune for a nooB like yourself with them....or did you know what you were doing with it? i'm going to have to purchase one as soon as i get my new turbo...and i don't know much on how to tune them...so i was wondering if your a nooB like me and it was hard for you....or just quite simple with the instructions?
good race again man!
thanks

Basically the easiest way to tune is on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor. I still have stock injectors so there is no need to mess with the Lo throttle settings. I have my Hi/Lo point at 80% so my adjustments only affect WOT or very close to it.

I will be on the dyno soon and this is my plan. Run with all settings zeroed out and get a baseline of horsepower, torque and a/f ratio. I already know my a/f is way rich from a previous trip to the dyno before I got the AFC. I will go leaner 1% at a time while monitoring the a/f ratio with the place's wideband, egt temps with my gauge and ignition timing (make sure timing doesn't get pulled back since this is a sign of knock) with my pocketlogger. When one of the following happens, I will be done.

1. stop making more power
2. a/f ratio gets too lean
3. timing gets pulled back
4. egt temps get too high

Its trial and error basically but if you have the right tools to monitor your engine and your on a dyno you should be safe. You can do this on the street as well but you won't be able to really tell when # 1 happens since you'd be using your "butt dyno" and the only way to tell if # 2 happens is to monitor your O2 voltage which is not reliable.

I'm either retarded or I did not understand this correctly, actually a little of both. What do you mean. Did you really race the mustang or not? If you are still on the T-25 and posting about running even with him, then yes it entertained me because that guys mustang must be slow as hell.

The disclaimer is just a CYA. I post stuff like this on local boards too and you never know what law enforcement persons can end up reading your kill, errrrr... fictional story.

The 89 Stang is not slow, one of my friends who followed along has a 97 Stang GT and he can't keep up with the 89 at all.
