(i did a search - came up emptyhanded)

alright...

i spent my last weekend redoing my headliner. i thought i did it correctly as i'm severely anal about everything and when i put it in it was perfect - or as perfect as i could get it. anyway - looked great throughout the week and i figured i was done except for the sunroof slides which i have been putting off till this weekend. anyway - today i get in my car to go to work and i notice that the vinyl is starting to come down in spots - then i look a little closer and i realize that its literally falling down almost everywhere. i used a spray adhesive called 'Super Duty Interior Adhesive' made by 'Heads Up'. It claims to be for all interior car applications from carpet to plastic to vinyl. suffice to say - it dosen't work worth a crap.

does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can use? i haven't taken it out yet to see exactly whats wrong, but i believe its a mixture of humidity and heat (south florida - gotta love it).

thanks for any help.

get some 3m addhesive of some bulldog glue... you'd be better off, I used spray tack addhesive on a box with vinyl and it lasted for about 3 months, after that is started to come off in places... check auto zone and try the 3m (recomended)... the bulldog is strong as hell, but it has to be applied with a paint brush... That is what we used at the audio shop where we did alot of head liners!!!!

thank you - i will check it out and let you know what happens.

i had to take the headliner out tonight cause it was completely falling down - bare metal for me till this gets fixed - yay - anyway - i pulled the vinyl off the headliner and now the solid piece is really flimsy - but at least the vinyl is cut.. ..is that bulldog going to add any stiffness to this? how much is it by the way?

hey psy.. i did mine a long time ago

and i used stinky elmers glue.. i live in florida too north west though. it came down the next day.

bought some high temp glue that was made for headliners and it works great

the 3m will do my friends all used it. i used felt on my headliner

vinyl is alittle heavier but that should work.

The bulldog glue is great for headliners, but I think it only comes in 5 gallon buckets!!! In actuality, I would drop by a upholstery shop and buy some of the glue they use on the same material to do headliners. It would be your best bet and prolly cost about the same!!!

This was a problemb I found with tryin to do a headliner in a 1999 Eclipse rs with a sunroof (electric).. I noticed this on the way to work this mornin, how would you cover the slide that you can pull shut that blocks light from comin into the sunroof? I am truley curious b/c I may go ahead and put White vinyl for my overhead!!! Any answers???

3M sprayable contact cement. I did it last year on vinyl and it still looks perfect. If anybody wants to check it out I'll be at the SO. Mich gets as much sun and heat in the summer as Florida (believe it or not). The key to making it work is the prep. You have to remove ALL of the old adhesive, not just spray over it. Also spray both surfaces being glued. Any Home Depot will stock the spray as well. I had plenty left over from 1 can.
