Hey

I have a factory 95 GS-T wing on my car. I want to put on my APR Aluminum wing. When I look at my factory wing I notice it is bolted down to the trunk and it overlaps on to the side panels. Therefore when it is detached there is going to be holes city. I know their going to have to be filled.

My question is how much am I look at here to get this wing put on? The factory has to be removed and how much is it going to cost to fill the holes?

Well, if you do it yourself it can cost you almost nothing at all. It's easy to remove the factory wing. Then you can just fill the holes with bondo, sand em down, and paint over them with factory-matched paint.

From there you can either have the new wing put on which would probably run you less than 100 dollars just to have it installed.

IMO, you'd probably be just fine doing it yourself. It's not hard to install one, I did it on a couple of my cars in the past just following the directions.

So, in conclusion, it could cost you upwards of $300 or about $20 depending on how you go about it.

That part is just a little hard from what i heard. The bondo part may fall thru.
You are right about that. A friend of mine at school did it and it fell through when someone leaned up against his car. Boy was he pissed. But he ended up welding a piece of metal in the hole and sanding it down and then using bondo to smooth out any imperfections. A lot of work bu he saved a lot of money too.

You guys just 100 percent convinced me that im not using bondo on my car... How embarassing would that be:mad:

ya, go take it and have someone weld some metal under them, I suggest just having them fill and paint it too, but you could do that part.

I need to take mine to someone once I get my car done, have about 20 holes.

bodyshop will charge you about $300 to weld the holes and repaint... there's three holes on each quarter panel, a couple more small holes on the hatch, and one huge hole on the hatch where the brake light wire goes through

Grilf hit it right on... I just had this done and it cost $300, they welded a small piece of metal under each hole (very teadious), filled, and then primered (no paint). At this price expect it to be done the RIGHT way and the shop will stand behind there work.

removing holes

I agree with having metal put in. You can use bondo if you tape the underside of the hole and use the kind with the angel hairs in it but, it gets really hard, really fast. In addition to that you will have it vibrate out if you have a sub in the trunk or if your new wing puts alot of force on the trunk.

I would have someone do it for you and do it right.

Just my .02

I hear what you are saying about the F&TF... but considering the options of the SUPRA like basket handle - which is now on Firebirds, Cavilers, sunfires and the like- The non functional wing that came on the cars 97 prior, the terminator whale tail style wing or the park bench - just about anything you stick on there is going to draw some kind of comment.

I think the key is that if you wanted to strap a refrigirator on the back of your car it would be ok as long as you can back it up with some speed to go with it.

I think that given the choices having a aluminum wing is not a bad thing. If you work it into the look of your car ie, you have alum rims, alum dash kit, alum fuel door etc it would look fine.

It sure beats having the normal wing on the back and what is more who wants a sagging fiberglass parachue hanging off the back of thier ride.

It is all a matter of taste.

To quote a friend I have just recently met. "you laugh at me because I am different, I laugh at you because you are all the same."

Think about it.

These days, the people who are all the same have the aluminum wings.

I do agree with you about alot of people having Aluminum wings - there are more people now than ever before but I think that is because "Street Racing" is born again with the popularity of this movie.

I think that there are so many people just trying to be original that they are limited as to how original thay follow someone else and there in lies the problem.

My car is being done right and is going to look pretty clean, it will be far from a ricer and TF&TF. I'm getting the APR Vspec II wing in black thats on that Altezza from the cover of the Apr. 2002 Super Street... not some GT III 747 take off wing :D

Just make sure you don't get the tail lights off of that car to go with the wing.

Post pics when you get it done!

not true, i had the stock wing on my 95 removed and HOLY SHIT..........16 freakin holes to fill, and one is bigger than a quarter (that is the one for the LED from the spoiler)

have about $500 for the project just to be safe, this isnt a cheap thing to do, trust me

Yeah I wouldn't do something like this unless you are going to paint the whole car. It's about $4-500 for bodywork and paint on the trunk lid plus the cost of the wing:eek:
