Ok, I've been doing a little shopping around for boost controllers and I know if I get one I will have to buy a boost gauge so I don't over boost my turbo.

So, I can go with option 1) Buy a Greddy profec B boost controller for $340 and then install Blitz Triple A Pillar Gauge mounts $59.00 and then buy a Blitz Turbo Gauge for $148.00, total cost=$547.00 with out shipping and handling.

Or I can go with option 2) Buy a Blitz Spec S Boost Controller for $389.00 with a built in boost gauge. I've been lookin at several sights and that's the cheapest I've found those parts for. My question is would it be a much wiser choice to go with the Blitz boost controller over the greddy or what, need some input please.

Or, and I say " OR ," you could buy a Manual Boost Controller from http://www.boostcontroller.com and an Autometer Mechanical Boost Gauge from http://www.summitracing.com . Then you would have only spent about $100 dollars.

Then, with the money you have left over, you could put that towards a cat-back or something else that would make you faster. Just my .02 cents. :)

Unless you want to be able to adjust your boost whenever you want or want more electronics in you car, manual boost controlers are the way to go. If you are going to keep your boost at one setting then you can save a lot of money on a boost controller

Go this way and with the money left over, get an UICP with a 1G BOV and an Air Filter like the K&N.

it is nice to be able to turn up your boost automatically though with the touch of a button. I suggest the Profec B, the gauge pod and the Blitz Gauge.. Your also going to want this pod because eventually you will need an EGT also.

Well, if you want to be serious about it (because I was just kidding w/you hence the :D face..) how fast has a Greddy Profec B been? (I honestly don't know) How fast has the Hallman MBC been? or the Extreme XBC? Oh, 8's...hmm.

How fast is your car BTW?

OK look, here is another :) face so you know that I am not trying to be mean. :D

yes i know u were just kidding as was I but I forgot the smiley face..its too damned early.. im stuck in the mid 13s myself for now.. still working on getting traction with fwd..

I also do not know what the fastest time with the Profec B is.. its fast enuf for me :) <-- note the smiley..

Thank you guys for your replies. I wouldn't mind going with a manual boost controller but isn't bad to run high boost all the time. I mean, if some guy wants to race me and I have the manual boost controller set to low boost do I say "hey, hold on man" and then I proceed to get out of my car and lift the hood to change it to a high boost setting? That sounds like a pain in the ass ya know.

Oh, and I have a Greddy catback exhaust w/3" tip, max airspeed intake, Greddy upper/lower intercooler pipes w/Greddy BOV and a turbo timer. Those are all the mods I have so far. How do I post a pic of my car on here?

You could also run 2 manual boost controllers using the stock boost control solenoid and a toggle switch. That’s what I currently use. I built my own controllers for less than $15, bought a toggle switch for less than $2 and took less than 10 minutes to hook it up. I dialed in one controller for 18 psi and the other for 21 psi. Worked great for me.

Damn, I wish I was that mechanically inclined to do that Chinook. Man, I really don't know what to do. Are manual boost controllers dependable as electronic ones?? I just don't wanna have to change my boost settin by opening my hood everytime someone gives me a buzz on the street.

You could buy a Manual, set it to "high", and then just not floor it everytime you are doing basic non-race driving. maybe thats not the way other DSMr's drive, but it would be a way to solve the changing problem (20 seconds).

What are the advantages of having a electronic boost controller over a manual boost controller and vice versa besides the electronic boost controller being more accessible and the manual being cheaper? I could do what tsimang is saying, set it to high just not floor it all the time.

Go to the check the Turbo section at http://www.vfaq.com and look for a vfaq that says Cheap Ass Boostcontroller or something the like. It tells you how to use a toggle switch and a manual boost controller to have 2 boost settings like Chinook said.

Ok, so I ordered my MBC from TurboXs and it's a Dual Stage Boost Controller. It cost me $244.00 with shipping/handling. It has a switch that mounts in the cockpit of the car. I read alot about this boost controller and thought it would be the best to buy. I could of bought the hallmans boost controller for only $45.00 but I read it allows boost spikes and that's not good.

Well, I thought about the same thing but my friend had ordered a vtec controller(I know that's different from a greddy profec b boost controller) but he said they have no warranties on those electronic boost and other electronic accessories. They don't even repair them. He had a vtec controller and a boost controller and both went bad within a year and they didn't have a warranty and they won't fix them. So, I thought it would be safe to go ahead and order a MBC.
