Any opinions??

Any reason you are not going with a simple S-AFC?

Because i'm either going all HKS (no crossing product problems) or a Stand Alone, see i'm looking at alot of tuning and want something that's gonna b more user friendly, a Stand Alone w/ a laptop seems easilier to use that a small digital screen on a S-AFC by APEXi or the Super AFR by HKS

Do not cross post.

I will try to get the other thread that you started in Parts Talk closed instead of closing this one (since it belongs more in this forum).

sorry, was just trying to get some feedback since i'm ordering these parts soon, need them for the pump, injectors, etc, which i need for my Green turbo, FMIC, etc

A standalone is not more user friendly than an S-AFC/S-AFR/VPC. Standalones require great knowledge about fuel and timing maps and plenty of patience as well as possibly quite a few hours of dyno time.

You have to define what your overall goals are and what you plan to do in the future. A hacked mas and safc will more than handle a FP Green label. I am currently running a 116 trap on a hacked mas an safc no problem. I will also very confident that it will still be fine running 27lbs and traping closer to 130.

The only way I would ever go with a standalone is if 1. You yourself new the interworkings of your car well enough to create a map or 2. Someone you knew was familiar enough with your car that they could create a proper map. It’s a mistake to feel that any of these things are user friendly things that you can do by yourself with no experience tuning a car and that goes for any of the units you are talking about stand alone, vpc, afc whatever. Also keep in mind that you will still need to raise your rev limit significantly. A vpc gcc will still need a tmo modded ecu. Are their any really good DSM or turbo shops in Wisconsin that can help you with this? If the answer is no I would choose the safc route because it is a bit easier to use and it will be about $1200 bucks cheaper.

There are different standalone systems Haltech, TEC, etc.

AEM is more than a standalone system, it already has
the maps for fuel and timing for a specific car, and
should be a bolt in kind, of like DSM link.

Haltech and others are for non specific cars and very
hard to tune they would work on any car, I had one on
a starion/conquest. Changed from primary/secondary
to four injectors, it made a big difference.

I think the easiest is SAFC, even though I don't have
one, its cheap and easy to tune.

Leo: You can jump on quite a few yahoo Haltech groups and pick up a car specific map. But just because you have a map that is Talon specific does not mean that it will work for you car with all the mods you have on it. An AEM and a Haltech work on the same basic map sensor system the only real differences are that the AEM has a knock sensor and it uses windows based software.

there is no place in wisconsin that does awd dyno the closes place is right by chicago about 1 hour from me. were do u live in wisconsin insnimprttsi. if i were u i would go with the dsm link or a s-afc big deal if it's not made by hks. if s-afc does what u need it to do than get it. save some money to.

I have used the Haltech and the Power FC and if you dont know what your doing you will hate your car. Just because the AEM comes with a base map doesnt mean it will run good. It only means it will run I am waiting for the AEM to come out as well if your look to just tune your fuel system a bit go with the AFC. If you have to get rid of your MAF then the VPC is very easy to tune ounce you get the hang of it. And if you have to stay with one company the HKS afr is comprable to the SAFC just less people use it and it will be harder to get help with it.

laser,

i never said i was an AWD, i'm a FWD, and i have a dyno at my College, so i'm all good

plus, if i don't get the stand alone, i'd b getting the VPC and GCC combo, and not doing APEXi, either way i'm very close in price so why not go for the stand alone

I never thought the vpc, gcc, tmo ecu was worth it either. The only reason not to get that would be if you have no idea what you are doing you car wont run until you get it figured out. Its not like a car with a stock ecu. But you seem to have a plan so as always good luck and keep us posted.

Get a dsmlink, extremely easy to use and very versatile. I've plaid around with my friends and I loved it.

This is going to sound harsh, but since you asked this question so open endly you're definetly not ready for a stand alone.
It would be like going from crawling, then skip walking, skip training wheels, and going straight to a bike.
