Hey guys- Well i finally finished my project this weekend. The car has been down since last October. I rebuilt the entire tranny myself. I just got the car going last night. I runs very good. Tranny shifts like butter and I can't say enough about how good I like the Phantom Grip i just put in it too. No more torque steer. I'm not doing any hard launches until i break the tranny in. As for the Griffin intercooler, the project turned out very sweet! I spent alot of time on it as I'm very picky. I did all the upper and lower piping myself. They look powder coated but they are not, it's just aluminum paint with clearcoat over the top. I got on it a little bit while i had it out for about 45 minutes yesterday and it feels very good. Didn't really notice any pressure drop. I can't wait to open it up. Overall, I think it was a very smart buy. I will let you know a bit later on how it feels on 3rd gear pulls.

Here is the website link that you can view it at. Let me know if you have questions. Special Thanks to dsm1995 on here for answering all my questions!!!

i didnt see a price for that intercooler... how much for the core itself?

Does it seem to hang below the cross member?

Nice piping job, what kind of welder did you use?

What angle bends do you generally need for this kind of job? Do you get a bunch of 90 degs and cut them in whatever angle you need?

95GST- They're all TIG welded. Thanks for the compliments. Yes it hangs a couple/few inches below the cross member. I or you have no choice though. The pipe that goes across the top has to go inbetween the bumper bracket. I would have liked to have had it higher but oh well. My car is already lowered 2+ inches. I just have to be careful pulling into certain driveways.

The project consisted of 2- 2.5" 90degree bends

3- 2.25" 90 degree bends (one of those going up to the j-pipe)

A couple of the 90's had to be cut to proper length, but the only one that had to take on a bigger mod, was the one inbetween the bumper bracket. Before modding it, it was directed towards the A/C condensor. I cut about 4 inches off it, ground the remaining 90 bend at a angle and rewelded the 4" back on.

The I/C brackets turned out very good. I only installed 2. As you can see, the bottom one is beefy. The intercooler does not move! I mounted the I/C about 1/4" away from the hood latch support member.

I wasn't able to see the pics since the site is down, but I'm glad to hear you are done man. I can't wait to see the pics. I think this IC is a really good deal for someone who doesn't mind doing stuff themselves.

I can't wait to see the pics because I'm probably going to be putting a 97-99 front bumper cover on my car soon and I want to see how sweet it looks. Anyway, congratulations, and I will be checking back here to see if I can see the pics. Hey BTW, did you consider either posting the pics in the original thread in Parts Talk (I'm going to change the name of that thread to reflect the actual size of the IC :))or doing a review in Parts Reviews?

edit - maybe I can get this thread moved to Parts Talk instead, and possibly merge it with the original thread?

I just checked out the pics, SWEET job man. It looks really good (especially the shiny pipe that goes above the IC :D ). How did you go about polishing the endtanks?

I can't wait to see some pics of it with the front fascia on!

dsm1995, Thanks for the compliments.... The 24" piece on top is a piece of scrap stainless that i found at the shop. My parents own a large machine shop. I polished it on a large floor standing buffer. It's nice and convenient to access to tools like that. I will be sure to post the other pics tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help during this project!

yeah man...that's a nice intercooler... I was going to buy one... I WILL buy one this summer...the core alone is 300 and the core with the endtanks welded...at least for my setup(one end tank to left ant the other to the right) was $475... too good to be real!!

looks awesome now just get some pics with the body back on.

Well here it is guys, with the facia back on.

Please note**** That it isn't fully done yet. As you can see there is a slight wave in the facia within the air dam on the bottom. There is a angled piece of metal that goes along the bottom to keeps its shape/form. Well on mine, i have to modify that bar and then put it back on. Then it will be perfect. I appreciate all the comments you guys have given me. It was a cheap investment. You can get the core for $300, tanks for $150, and if you can't weld, they(RRE) can do that for another $40. I have about $125 into all the piping, couplers, clamps and paint. So for about $625 you can have yourself a FMIC that looks just as good as any Greddy or other aftermarket and perform like one too. I still get a kick out of one side being warm and the other being cold when i check it. It has definately made a BIG difference for the car. I still won't open it up until after the tranny is broke in.

Sorry about the tripod website and their bandwidth limit. If anyone knows of a better FREE website to host on, please let me know.

Thanks!

yea that looks bad ass, one thing i've seen done by othe members is to have the ribbed black part removed. makes the hole even bigger and even better looking.

Mavisky- thanks!

Yeah i thought about cutting that black part out. In order to do that, you must remove or further modify the black bumper behind the facia because it's directly behind there. It would allow at least 3 more cooling passages to be exposed to ouside air.

That thing looks sweet man. I plan on cutting out that piece of black trim before I put my 97 bumper on.

I asked you earlier but you may have missed it, how did you polish the endtanks on the IC?

edit - Also, I wonder why mine hangs below the fascia a little bit (half an inch maybe) but yours doesn't? We both have to have it mounted at the same height for the pipe to go through the bumper mount. Do you think the 97 front fascia is a little lower?
