I'm new at this so take it easy on me... i have an AEM short ram intake, yeah, thats all, so my car is still slow. im tired of getting my ass kicked by z24 cavaliers, so help me out... what should i get? pulleys? header? fuel rail/regulator? i have no idea here. thanks.

I would say your next purchases need to be a cat-back exhaust and then the headers. These will give you the most performance gains for the money. Pulleys are fairly expensive and while they do provide a little extra power, the noticable result is quite small. I think a pulley upgrade should be further down on your list and start with the basic bolt-ons and then things like ignition and perhaps cams and cam gears. Just my opinion though. Good luck!
Not to contradict you jessebenner, but the price for a UDP was less expensive then my exhaust, and my POS HEADER. No s.
And you HEADER and exhaust were more expensive then mine I'm sure.
But on the other note, I think you broke it down pretty well. Nothing is gonna give you a good gain by itself. (not including boost and No2).

unless u do some headwork and some extensive work u wont be able to get a cav z24 in my mind, my budys 97 5speed has greaddy exhuast and header and aem coldair, yet his best time was a 16.4 another buddy in my group has a 01' z24 with a cheezy weld on and a ebay air intake, now his car is an auto and his best was a 15.7

BWAHAHAHAHAHA Ummm did i miss something here? a auto cav runnin 15.7? they run a 17.2 stock trust me cavaliers are horrible look at my mods and i eat them alive...... the best mod for your car is learning to drive it

well you are either faster than a 15.7 or u cant hammer this cavz24, there is a huge difrence in a base cav and a z24z24 puts out like 150hp and 144 torque
Ok i joined this mboard just cuz I think the cavaliers side needs to be represented. Not to bash on ur cars I have several friends who drive DSMs. However Z24 Cavys do run middle 15's. Mine is an 89 with the V6 and i run a 15.7. Mine has 130hp with 160ftlbs of tourque. The newer ones that I believe ur talking about have 150 and 150 with the 2.4 the brand new ones with the 2.2 ecotec have 140 and 140. The cavy that u say runs a 17.2 which is with a outdated engine the 2.2 pushrod that puts out 115 hp and 120-30 ft lbs of tourque. Theres guys driving 2.4s with no mods doing 15.4s and 15.5s. Mines a 13yr old auto and runs 15.7 with just a muffler and some new plugs and wires and u know thats not much gain there. Once again im not trying to bash u guys but educate you.

well it also means u could be wrong, u could be racin the base model cav but it might look like a z24, they look diffrent, to stomp on a z24 like u said u would have to run low 15's which i highly doubtcause i got another buddy with a 99 z24 with just a intake and full catback and pullys and he gets better times then a stock gst, now are you telling me that you1st gen NT is faster than a gst, now i know u have mods as do most people but exhaust and intake wont give u that thrown back seat action like some ppl think, use ur head man serously, i hate stupid people

well stock NT tend to run in the 16's and stock gsts tend to run in the mid to low 15's, only from what i saw though i dunno wait for other poeple to post theres one guy on here who has a first gen all motor thats actually fast from what i have herd i think its supatalon i think i dunno
