Does anyone know what the average lifespan of the T25 is? If yours died, what mileage did it die at and what boost were you running? My T25 makes a howling sound (at least I think it's the turbo) and I believe this may be the beginning of the end. The car still makes boost and doesn't blow any smoke but I think it's only a matter of time. My car currently has 46xxx miles. Thanks for the input.

im running 16psi, 99xxx miles and no shaft movement or anything...

103K miles and my t25 has seen anything from 16-probably ~23 (boost leak). No shaft play, no smoke, and still running strong. :D

I think it depends on the amount of boost you put threw it and how often you change the oil. There is a guy around here that has 160k on his stock T-25.

I agree with everyone here. I heard a howling/whistline noise from my T-25 before I upgraded and it turns out my compressor wheel was all chewed up. I personally think the guys at SATAN did it, because I didn't hear it before I brought it there, though they swear they heard when they test drove it before doing the work. Hmmm. Other than that wheel, the turbo had 55K miles on it and it was still solid everywhere else. I actually sold it as is for 100 bux to a guy who needed a stock turbo really bad.

But anyway, the point of my pointless rant is...check your compressor wheel, something may have gotten in there and chewed it up. I would doubt it's anything else from the responses in this thread.

Well, the turbo is gone, I'll be surprised to have another one, unless it's twin, and under the hood of a Supra:)

Mine blew

Mine just blew a couple months ago @ 95k. It had been making a whiney howl for a few weeks before it went. I was running 16psi for a while, and then the locking nut came loose on my mbc, and the adjuster knob fell out. I was driving cautiously while I waited for new MBC internals from Extreme to show up. I left my car at a tire shop to get some new rubber put on. I assumed that they weren't going to road test my car, but I assumed wrong. The kid that road tested it must have laid into it pretty hard, cuz when I picked up my car it was smoking like crazy, and I was unable to make boost. $4600 later, I now have a new turbo, new clutch, and my crankwalk has been fixed......for now.

At the shop I used to work for, we would pull out blown T25's all day that had about 90k on them, that really seemed to be the lifespan.

However, my talon has 143,000 on it, and the turbo has zero play whatsoever, and is still going strong.

A road test after tires is really never needed. Anyone knows you are to make no full throttle runs for a while because you can spin the balanced tires on the rim and make them unbalanced.

I also think you are not to go over 60mph or something like that for X miles.

Take that f!@#$%'s car for a test drive!(don't matter if he says no)
