I swear these things are made to be broken. I just broke my 2nd one on my car. AND! On my front ds wheel, the stud broke off, and I stripped another one on the same wheel! So here I am driving one wheel with only 2 studs....yes I know...dangerous...stupid....idiotic ;) Can the stripped stud be rethreaded with one of them thread cutters? Also, since I got my tranny in, i drove it around the block, and everytime I turn right, or move my wheels to the right, I hear this scratching tap sound....its almost like this: pause........scratchhh....pause.....scratch, Im thinking its because I only have two studs, but could it be something else maybe? Like something with the steering?

If the 2 studs are right next to each other, don't drive the car another foot. I got about 10 miles out of mine at a max speed of 35. I stopped right when one of them broke. So with 1 stud remaining, I was able to get it on a flatbed and support that side of the car with a jack. All so I could take it to get them replaced.

If you have non abs, you should just be able to hammer the old ones out (find the hole in the dust sheild). If you have abs, you need to have the hub pulled.

Nah, it is two studs that are across from each other, I wouldnt drive my car if it was two studs next together, now that would be stupid :) I do have abd, thats why its such a pain in the ass. When I had my tranny out I was going to change them all, but I tried unbolting those 3 large bolts that were on the back of the hub, but had no luck, those things were on there good. So ill try again in a couple days when I do some research on other boards to see some tricks. I did find tap and die set that should fit over the studs, but its like 50 bucks. I found out what the scraping nooise was when I turned my left front tire, it was scraping against the splash guard. So Im gonna cut some of it off with some heavy duty scissors or something.

Uhhh, why would you buy a tap and die set to fix your wheel studs????? :confused: Why don't you just go to Pep Boys, or your favorite automotive retailer chain. And buy two brand new wheel studs for $1.50 each? Then install them yourself. It will only take you 30-45 min.

Since I didn't have a hub puller, I got the pleasure of crapping out $150 just for labor to replace them bastids on my right front. On top of that I had to buy the replacements which were about another $40 (studs/lug nuts).

I just had the worst experience with a broken wheel stud. I have a 93 AWD with ABS, I broke a stud on the front wheel. In trying to get it out, I ruined a tie rod end, lower ball joint, the axle was seized into the hub, so I had to take it to a shop to have them put it in a press. The ABS speed ring was stripped so I had to purchase a new one, it cost me $180 to fix a $1.50 wheel stud, what a PITA!!!

Exactly why I wanna pay someone to replace them :)

But then again, I dont have the money, and would much rather do it myself cuz im stubborn like that. So Ill start my research and post the steps and any problems i encounter.
