i have been getting boost creep so bad that i cant go full throtle. i decided to see if it was my mbc, or if i just need more porting. I just reinstalled my factory boost solenoid, and now i get a rock solid 15 1/2 psi. The car feels so much slower, but it is a relief to not have to worry about feathering the throttle to keep boost down. I would normally keep the boost at about 18-19 when i had the joe p in, and i would haul ass, but still couldnt floor it. I really dont want to keep the boost soleniod in, it sucks, boost builds slow and too low of boost levels. any ideas? i have messed around with the joe p so much, for so long, that i dont want to mess with it anymore. oh yeah, im broke so buying an electronic boost controller is out of the question.

thanks

start saving....??

forget the electronic boost controller son, what you need is a ported wastegate and ported (or tubular) o2 housing. AHP makes a nice tubular o2 housing for a reasonable price...its a bit more that a ported 2g o2 housing, which is almost as good but not quite since the ahp has a full 2.5" ID.

Hold on there son, he's not getting boost creep on the stock BCS, his current WG, and o2 housing are obviously working fine.

Something is wrong with the Joe P. It's letting the WG shut for some reason. Perhaps a leak somewhere in its plumbing. Or it needs to be cleaned.

Where was it tapped?

i had it set up the way the instructions said. i have read alot of people saying to run one side to the wastegate and tap the other side in between the intake and the valve cover. i dont understand why this would work though. i guess i will try that tomorrow. on a side note, i put in the smic and had to fabricate a new licp, well this sucker just doesnt want to stay on. i guess i should start saving for an actual licp made by an exshaust shop.
everytime i floor it i cringe as i wait for a loud pop and my car to die, lol.

Not being a 1g guy, I can only speculate that you may not have the best boost tap because I'm not sure what you mean that it's "in between the intake and the valve cover".

What line did you tap for boost? was it your bov line? The only 2 places I've ever hear of being tapped were the BOV line or on 2Gs, there a nipple on the t25 outlet. If the boost source you tapped into doesn't provide full true boost pressure, it won't be able to open the WG fully = creeping. just a thought.

Aaaarrrggghhhh... sorry I don't know this off the top of my head guy, but do you guys have a T-VSV? I know on the MR2, when you install an mbc, if you don't disable it, you'll get some nasty boost spike/creep.

Anyways, I'd say get another mbc... yours obviously was 1) not doing what it's supposed to or 2) was installed wrong. TwosRus makes a great ball-spring boost controller for like $40 shipped that I have on my car and works like a dream. It comes with plenty extra hose, all the other doo-dads you'll need, and... best of all... a "GOT BOOST?" sticker. :D It rocks. It's the kind with each letter individual, not just written on one big sticker. I put mine on the inside of my bay lid.

um, but hes not running 19psi on the stock bcs, so how do we knowthat his wg, o2 are working fine at that 19psi, he needs to borrow someonelses boost controller to check this one out....

I honsetly didn't think it would make enough difference but I guess it could. Never thought of that.

itdood,

yeah i ment the line that runs in between the bov and the valve cover, i had it conected to the nipple on the outlet of my 14b. i figured that once the pressure coming from the turbo was strong enough it would open up the mbc, which would inturn open up the wastegate? but it doesnt seem to be working that way.

yea, those are the only two places I know of that are good MBC taps. You'd thiink the nipple on the turbo is the best place to tap, but I've seen a lot of guys say the BOV line is the best. Are you sure it's not hooked up backwards?

You probably know this already, I posted the pic just in-caser.

ok , i finally got tired of the turbo lag that is caused by my stock bcs. i was also extremly tired of runing 15 1/2 psi. if any of you read my post in the kills section, normally i would have got in the right hand lane and passed the guy. but anyways, i finally decided to go put my joe p back on. well i installed it the way that you said itdood, i didnt even need to buy a new plastic tee to tape into the bov line! HOLY SH!T!!! i never really realized what a difference this makes. i get better boost throough out the whole rpm band, and the car pulls like "mad crazy yo" i can finally floor it with out worry of over boosting. one more question for you mbc guys out there that live soemwhere where the temp can vary greatly from one season to the next(huge ass sentance). On avg. how many psi more will i be pushing during cold weather, compared to the same setting in hot weather? thanks for all the help guys!

Did you mean that you hooked it up to the BOV line or was it hooked up backwards? I want to know because I have the same problem. I currently have mine hooked up to the T-25 compressor nipple and it spikes to 18-19 psi.

I had a website that was specifically for the Joe P and the Hallman MBC's a while ago. I need to order one, because I'm slow in my opinion. Does anyone know the website I'm talking about and can you give it to me.

Go with XBC from extreme motorsports it works better than any other boost controller i ever used. And only cost $100.00:D
