I'm baffled....

I've got a problem with my car maybe some of you can answer.

This past week I replaced the clutch in my 3000 GT. When putting it all back together, it wouldn't start. The battery is fully charged and the starter works fine (I had them both checked). When the starter is connected to the battery but completely apart from the transmission, the gear pops out but doesn't spin...it just quits after that. When I took to Autozone to get tested, it spun just fine. The flywheel turns so I know things aren't bound up there. My starter just won't spin when connected to my car. I know it's not the battery either because it's carrying 13 volts. Anybody have any ideas??

I have no clue but could it possibly some kind of sensor or something electrical.:dunno:

I appreciate your offer, but I live out in Galveston so it would have been way out of the way. I'll just plan on meeting up another night.....when I've got my car going again.

A friend told me tonight that he's had starters do that before. It wasn't working and he took it to get tested and it worked......three different times. He put a new starter in and it worked fine. I'm going to try that tomorrow and see....hopefully that's all it is, though I wish it was something a little less expensive.
 
Well guys, I really tried to get out there tonight. Made it all the way to Malibu go cart place and that's where my fucking piece of shit of a talon died. Argh, I can't stand this anymore. I seriously hope someone would start that waste of space on fire.

It was acting up today. It would just kindof die, but not all the way. It wouldn't recognize any kind of throttle, then all of the sudden bamn, it kicked in. So I messed with some stuff and got her running good.
So I'm heading down to Westheimer on 610 and the fucking POS starts up again. I manage to get that bitch off the freeway to where I can look her over. Everything was looking fine, but just wouldn't start up. So I call the ONLY person I know here to give me a tow. He shows up and we start to work on it. We disconnected one hose from the fuel rail and tried to start it and sure enough fuel came out, and for some reason it starts up. I put the hose back on and she dies. ARGH!! Don't ya just love dsm's? So I put some vise grips on the line to stop the flow, cause that's the only way it'll run.
So we get back on 610 and sure enough, she fucking dies again.
Anyway, we go to walmart and get some tow ropes and get her back.
To make a longer story a little shorter we got the pile back to my apt(5 miles of towing). I think the starter went cause it won't even try to turn over anymore.

The only cool thing that happened was when heading back to tow this wonder machine, we saw some car(looked to be a mid 90s corvette) get ass backwards on the other side of the freeway. I think he hit the wall and spun her. He was bookin also(maybe 100mph or so). Then about 1/2 mile down the road, we see a ton of cops with their lights on. I don't know, but maybe someone stole it and was running or someone just running.:dunno:

So that was my wonderful night. Anyone want to run this junk off a cliff? I wish that guy in the vette would of taken out my talon when he was running from the cops. I mean, he wrecked the vette anyways. Why couldn't he of taken out my car in the process?

Hey Jason, sorry to hear about your car, i know the feeling when you just want to run your car off a cliff. If ya need any help, we will try to help you the best we can. Anyway last night was a pretty good showing. I can't believe how many 1G's were out there last night. I had to leave early because I had work today and now i'm tired as fuck because I only got 4 hours of sleep. I really need to move my ass to Houston so I don't have to drive back and forth from CS. Anyway did any of you guy go out to the race spot to see if it did get raided by the cops? Any other cars come after I left? Hopefully I get my order from RRE this week and then I'll be down to get my exhaust made and will not leave early to go home cause i'm going to call in sick. Holla at ya'll later

it sucked that we had to leave early, i hate it too, but someone needs to make huy go to bed! but atleast i got to go shopping! :)

Huy- Just let me know when you have all the stuff together and we can set a day to make the exhaust. For me it needs to be on the weekend preferrably sunday. The first one will prolly take a good bit of time so the first try I might only be able to do one in a day we will have to see though. Also we have to get the flanges lined up. Just let me know.
 
Josh, I should have the stuff by this week, If you want to do it on Sunday then that's cool with me. Denis said that he will have the flanges ready to go very soon. Hopefully you won't be busy this Sunday cause I want to get mine exhaust on as soon as possible. What we can do if either do my car or Jon's car first and then just copy the exact design onto the other car since me and Jon's car are going to be the same with the muffler and all. Let me know if you want me to get you a magnaflow muffler, or if you are going to get a different one. i can get a magnaflow muffler for around 73 for just normal shipping but if you need it in a hurry then add like 5 or so bucks. I'll have to get a exact pricing on it.

Project "Free Flow" is almost ready to become a reality.

i dunno if you guys saw my post in gen tech about the exhaust cut out, but anyway i was wondering if anyone is still going to fab up the 2.5inch dp to 3in flex and 3in back. i will pay for the peices and test run it to see performance gains, so we can advertise them if EOS decides to start selling parts. back to the idea at hand. i really NEED a quiet exhaust most of the time. my dad works 12 hour shifts and gets pissed when i came home late with the exhaust like i had on my bronco. basically if he can hear it inside it pisses him off. with my current monetary state i cannot afford living on my own and i want my GST to be fast. going fast without exhaust is kinda difficult. SO, i propose a 2.5in to 3in flex downpipe into a 3in high flow cat, after the O2 sensor put in a quicktimeperformance electronic exhaust cutout. then after the cut out bottle neck the pipe back to stock for the stock muffling system. this way i have the quiet that only a stock exhaust will be able to provide, with the airflow i want for racing at the flip of a switch. and as for legality im pretty sure it is legal as long as you arent caught using the cutout on the street.

if you guys think you can help me make this dream a reality let me know. it might take me a few weeks to get the funds for the cutout and high flow cat but if EOS is fabbing the DP is shouldnt cost but for the parts and maybe some for beers for your help.

also im sorry i didnt make it out last night. my friends mom fucked our plans all up. she HAD to ride with him to the Subie dealer to pick up his plates then forced him to goto a few stores with her and then they went to eat. he told us to wait and being the good friends we are didnt leave without him. he finally called at like 10 something and said he was about to be home.needless to say i was pissed. so i decided we will stay in this week because i didnt feel like driving the hour and a half while pissed and then having to leave early because i had to work today.

You should go ahead and get a new starter man. Mitsu cars are mysterious creatures..fun to play with, but sometimes very annoying to get them fix and run..

Dual exhaust tips is much more quite than a single 4" coffee can hole.;) But on a turbo DSM, is no where near as farty sounding than say a Honda.:D

i do realize that dsm exhaust are quietER than say a honda exhaust but for myself to not get yelled at about the noise of it i need it damn near stock quiet. and ive heard dsms with exhaust and they can be pretty loud and rumbly even at idle. if my dads bedroom wasnt right near the driveway it wouldnt really be a problem but with me going out and partying and what not and staying out late i figure the best of both worlds is to have the cutout. it keeps it quiet when i need it to be stock quiet and when i want it balls to the wall performance thats there too. now thinking about it going with 2.5-3-what is stock like 1.75-2 its gunna be a weird transition, prolly not gunna be good for the car, so i think maybe just 2.5 from the turbo to right behind the cat.

i duno though im no expert.

Sorry bout not being here this weekend. I've been in Lubbock since thursday and got back tonight (sunday). Well, tomorrow is the first day of the last year of high school for me! WOOHOO!!! But, that means that i'm not gonna be able to hang out that much with all the homework and shit :(.

I got it all back together and everything works great......man I've missed my car. I probably will have to get a new starter though before too long.....it getting wet made is sound a little funny when I start my car.

This Saturday would be cool....probably be pretty busy until then though.

Anyone on here drive an orangish/copper color 2g eclipse with a burnt out fog light? If so, that was me that flew by you today as you were coming into Galveston.
 
Yeah dude, get a new starter ASAP. Because I didn't get a new starter, my timing belt jumped on me, and then the motor crankwalked. So that just about sucks. All because of my dumb ass neglecting a $120 peice of equipment. It made me spend $2500 in repairs this summer alone.

Once again I'm debating about selling my car. Right now I'm still either looking at a C5 or a Supra. Same boat as EclipseXctasy. I want something with great reliability, and I dont know if the C5 has that. I'm probably looking to get a C5 around $24k with about 40-50k miles on it, and the Supra, around the same price range will run about 60-80k miles. But of course.. the Supra is Japanese, it's a Toyota, which I believe reliability should be tons better. I still don't know yet.. the closer it gets to getting my car out of the shop.. the more I want to keep it. But the more I drive my friend's Supra, the more I want of that one. Bah. Janky.

Sorry I couldn't stay longer Saturday night, I had to meet up my friends with the Supra and Z06 so they could mad race. It's a BPU + Supra against a 2001 Z06 with ram air and cat back exhaust. We with met up at Whataburger and raced on the feeder. The first race, from a 15roll, the Z06 gave the Supra the spool, and they were about even until 3rd, where the vette walked him about a car and a half. Then again from 40 (the supra guy just got the car, he can't drive that well), the vette pulled like 4 cars on him, no prob.

So we pull back into Whataburger, and there's this 2003 Cobra (yes, the supercharged one) there, with paper plates on. He wants to run the Supra. So we agree, then we ask him to run the Z06. He says yes, without even asking what the vette has. We thought that was weird.. since he was claiming the Cobra was stock. I call BS, because his pipes were 3.5" wide, and they were sticking out the back of his car. "Okay, I have exhaust," he says. I should have kicked him in the face. The Supra and him line up.. it wasn't even a race. Cobra beat him by like 6 cars. So the Z06 lines up with him about 5 times. First time, they hit it at the same time, and the Z06 pulls half a car on the Cobra. They hit it again going about 30mph, the Z06 jumps the Cobra first and second gear, then all of a sudden in 3rd, the Cobra walked past him 2 cars. Every race after that.. same thing. The Cobra dude kept claiming it was stock, it was stock, but we knew it was bullshit. We think he was spraying, because it was the same pull each time in 3rd gear, and in a supercharged car, you have the same power band through the RPM band, you don't just randomly gain 2 cars after you already whined up. We asked him what he had, he said only exhaust. After talking mad shit to him, and saying that he has a lightning pulley and he doesn't have to lie to us, and he doesn't have to be all proud and shit for beating a basically stock Z06, he says, "I have something secret." And we laughed, and walked away. Cocky bastard.

Overall it was a fun night. I would have video taped it, but I didn't bring a camera with me, and my friend's passenger window wasn't working (damn Vdub's) so I couldn't use it anyway. But next week, they're going to run again in my other friend's Z06. And hopefully this Viper and this 9sec LS1 is going to run. We'll see though.
