Just Want Some Real Info

I REALLY dont wanna start anything bad, just want some real info. If the 420A was also used in the Neon, then does that make it a DSM, or does that make all the T/E/Ls with 420As Non-DSMs? Im just curious dont wanna start a flame war or anythin.

Peace

ok, heres the history as far as I know it.

Early '90s: DSM = Mitsubishi made the engine and drivetrain and one body (the eclipse). and Chrysler made 2 bodies (talon and laser)

'95 and newer: DSM = Mitsubishi kept making the turbo engines and turbo drivetrain along with the eclipse. Chrysler made the 420a engine and tanny as a substitue for the n/t engines along with the talon. Chrysler found the engine to be very useful in other applications and adapted their other cars to the engine.

just wondering, what is T/E/L? hahah sorry for benig stupid.

true, chrysler wanted some hand in the drivetrain. so they split them up. Chrysler has never been good about turbos so they let mitsu have those and they took n/a.

LMAO, Dude, .......Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth were Pioneers with 4cyl Turbos and FWD. Have you ever heard of the Dodge Daytona, Dodge Shelby Charger, Omni GLH, Chrysler Lebarron, Plymouth Horizon, etc....I have an 83' Dodge Shelby Charger N/T with a 86' Shelby Charger turbo block. These cars came with the 2.2L and some with a 2.5L, very good engines. I can tell you from first hand experience that Chrysler knows turbos very well. Why do you think Mitsu was partners with them? Cause they knew turbo 4cyl powerplants....Peace...Jim

riiiiiight

Chrysler has released more turbo models than any other manufacturer. You can take a 80's Turbo 2.2L and run 25-30lbs of boost on the stock block. Chrysler prolly has a better understanging of small displacement turbo engines than any other manufacturer. theyve been doing it longer than everyone else and they were damn good at it.

Another thing: Someone mentioned that DSMs were built in the DSM plant @ Normal, Illinois.... so why doesnt club DSM consider my avenger a dsm, but the 95 RS that was in line right behind my car w/ the same engine, tranny, suspension, interior, etc is considered a DSM. I guess the place of birth, sharing of parts, or even the 1000 factory dsm stickers all over the car dont meant squat? ;)

Hey Sam, we also share the same shitty plastic door handles, lmao.......PEace...Jim

Thats part of what i wanna know. But I'm guessing that it wasn't assembled in normal which doesn't make it a dsm? I dont know im just as clueless as you

Ryan, my first thought would be that it's because there is no equivalent mitsu model, but then by that token the GVR4's would be non DSM's too(not saying they aren't before people jump all over me, I def consider them DSM's just punching holes in my own logic) So maybe for b/c they were strictly a dodge creation and were not part of the DSM coop?
